Bring Back Transfat!
Is there any software avaiable that would allow you to burn multiple tracks from a stand alone recorder (2488 in my case) to a CD or DVD that would be readily openable for tweaking on a computer.

Let's say I've recorded 8 tracks on the 2488, but haven't mixed down yet. Is there any way to get those tracks exported to a computer for final mix?

Ironically, I bought the Tascam unit because I got tired of using a mouse with a software mixing panel. Of course now I miss the flexibility of plug-ins and a monitor I can see without glasses! :D

Any options on this?

Does you 2488 have a USB port?? Maybe it can export as wav files.

Yes, as a matter of fact it does! Duh! :o

Cool...that's the first part.

But how does the rest work? I guess I can export 1 track at a time as wav files. Can these individual tracks be loaded into something like Power Tracks and be acknowledged as viable, manipulatable tracks?

See what I'm gettin' at? I wanna record all these tracks on the 2844 and then mix them all up on the computer, adding fx, levels, etc.

Is this do-able?

Thanks

Yeah, I think it's definitely doable. I read the manual online and it said you can export through the USB port as wav files. Most, if not all, DAW's can import wav files!! Not sure about PowerTracks, but you can download a free DAW like Krystal or try Reaper for $60. I think Reaper is your best bet for the least expensive. Unless you've got an OEM version of Cubase, like Cubase LE or something.

There's also a new DAW called Mixcraft which is about the same price as Reaper; $65.

Any of these will import your wav files, then you can use VST plugs, etc. to mix with.
