"decent results"
This may be an oxymoron. Depending on your expectations concerning "decent results", don't get your hopes up too high. To get what I consider decent results with audio recording, you're going to have to spend some money. "Decent results" = Decent microphone, decent preamp, decent sound card with decent AD converters. I'd say 4-500 bucks should get you to "decent to good sounding." You're NOT going to get a decent guitar sound using a pickup and a cheap sound card. Not trying to be a downer but we may as well be realistic here. No use fooling yourself. I mean, you can get a sound out of it using a cheap mic directly into the cheap card, but you did say "decent to good sounding." Good luck with your search.
