Audio file with samples from various covers. Curious how she strikes you. The focus is on the performances not the audio tech - they were done under non-fancy circumstances with decidedly non-fancy gear.

You posted less than a day ago. This forum doesn't get the traffic that the rest of the site gets. Also, 80 views means nothing. They could have all been spam bots and it's entirely possible that out of those 80 views, 79 of them weren't even human beings.

I looked but couldn't get the link to work from work PC, so couldn't listen... Not sure why.

People seem to keep having problems with files I have on Google drive, though it works fine for me. Might be browser security settings? There are at least 3 options for downloading. Hit "download" in the middle of the page, or at the upper left there's a down arrow or the word "file". It opens up a download applet. Works for me under XP and Win7.

Dunno. I guess I'll upload to Soundcloud.

I never even got to the page. Could be a browser setting here at work perhaps, if so, unchangeable by me.

I like the voice - I like her better doing some styles than others though - she's got a lovely world weary rasp that works well for me in the slower songs clips. In particular the first one. In some of the other up tempo ones, or when she went "big" on notes or covered a lot of ground quickly wo-o-o-oh style, I was thinking it wasn't anything I hadn't heard before, although it's still a good voice - and I hate country so that one didn't work for me at all.

So, for me, better on the quieter/slower stuff than the louder/faster stuff. Nice.

Yes, I really like her dusky low range. In at least one example she had a cold but I thought it worked in her favor.

Several are from the "country" realm but I assume you mean Sin Wagon since that's the rowdiest of the bunch. I have to laugh because she considers herself primarily country singer but she does a great job on material all over the map. After hearing her version of "Take A Bow" the Rihanna version sounds bland to me despite the huge disparity in the recording environment.

Believe it or not she's never done a paying gig or been in a proper recording studio. I tried to tweak things to enhance the listenability but she was singing into POS mics.

The mic doesn't do her justice which is distracting. That being said her style isn't my cup of tea, and she can't seem to pick anything that wouldn't be heard at a cheesy high school dance to cover.

Her voice sounds older which doesn't suit the young sound she is going for. My favorite part of her voice is the lower register. I want to hear more of it. Her rasp is appealing and I wish she not try to be as pop-polished.

I rather liked it. I wasn't fond of some of them, but I really liked 1st, 3rd, and 8th!
