Don't know if anyone mentioned this already, but there are Formant Shift plug-ins available, that will alter the "quality" or timbre of a voice. Here's an interesting article from Sound on Sound where they talk about Formant Shifting a little bit.

hmmm. about the programming thing, if it is indeed C++... GREAT! thats the first language I've ever learnt (though I havent programmed for a year or 2) but seing that I've never programmed audio before, I will need some tut's and I'll give that Throat plugin a shot.
