Imported Wav files speeding up??

A curious thing... when I import a wav file, it plays faster than the original. This would be Ok but, when I then mix to a stereo file and re-import it, Im getting chipmunk sounds... any ideas on why this happens?? Any ideas on how to stop it?? Any help appreciated...

Check the properties of the original wave to determine its sample rate, then set your project properties to match that sample rate in Cubase.
