Hadn't heard this tune in a long time. You definately nailed it.

Vocals and guitars are good. Nice groove too.

Mix sounds a bit harsh on my Altecs (glaringly accurate in the mids & highs, a little light on the bass) but pretty good on my JBL's (scooped mids and nothing above 15K). Little too much compression there too.

Good job! Post more! :)

i've never heard this song before which is a good thing. i have a lot of trouble critiquing covers and usually stay away from posts of covers for that reason.

this, is outstanding work. especially the singing. very well done and performance is excellent all around.

the only thing you might change is bringing down the level on the bass drum a few db's.

Lt. Bob -Is there anywhere in the USA that you havent been?LOL.Thats cool that you were around during those days. From what I hear thats when things were really happening in that area.Capricorn was a major force for awhile there......I think they reformed the label a few years back.Macon is where Ronnie Hammond Lives.....the Ga Music Hall of Fame is also there now.I bet you have a ton of stories to tell about your touring days.

Toki-You're not jumping my thread man!;)Feel free to post whatever. These threads take a life of their own a lot of times after a few days.Guernica has a "dual" thread going right now about his new keyboard and the "F" word. cant stop a thread from going where it wants to go.
ARS has a big connection to south alabama.Im sure you know a whole lot more about them than I do.Dean daughtry is still playing with the Current ARS line up.He played up in macon the other night at Ronnie hammonds "last waltz" retirement gig.

Pete-Thanks for checking it out man!A lot of pople have said this is the first tune they've heard by me but I've posted a grand total of 3 to the clinic this year.I guess when you're as boring as I am the songs just slip off of page one of the clinic pretty quick.:DI appreciate the compliments man!Have a great holiday season!

SLuiCe-Wow.Another heavy hitter weighs in with compliments.:o You're ears had to be fried not to tear this one apart.:DThanks for taking the time to listen and comment.I appreciate the comments about the vocals.Hopefully by this time next year I can produce something half as good as your stuff. Thanks again man!:)

King Elvis-Thanks for checking in KE!yep,it's 70's FM radio all the way.LOL.There are clams and problems here and there but maybe I can fix them. Thanks for listening and commenting man!:-)

M.Brane-Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment! The mix is a little too hot and overcompressed.Im gonna do a re-mix in a few days and see if I can correct the known problems.I appreciate the ears and I'll try and post more often.;)

erichenryus-Thanks for the compliments eric!I figured a drummer like yourself would pick this apart.LOL.The kick is glaringly loud isnt it?I think I can fix it.the only thing is the toms are on the same channel as the kick.:eek:I can still knock the volume down a little and get by I believe. Thanks for the compliments and suggestions!

Happy Holidays To Everybody!

Damn good. But a little much on the vocal reverb.

Just missed you!The reverb is a little much at times. On certain sections I like it and it seems to give the vocal an airy feel that the song calls for,and other sections it sounds like overkill.I need to do a re-mix with fresh ears.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!;)

Hey Kramer, sounds great! I'm not familiar with this song, but it definitely has that 70's laid back thing going, melodic, and your vocal is perfect for it. Smooth. Really really good.

LOL.I figured it was time to post something new.I've been in that dark dragon cave so long I had to take a little break and work on something besides pissing Hixmix off.:D

Thanks for checking it out Buck!:)

Nice job Kramer. You've got a great voice! I wish I could sing like that.

I agree with Subtractor. Great voice. Who'd a thunk a hill billy could sing like that!:D

man... I can't believe I totally missed this tune...

This is a great cover..... of course.. I've never actually heard the original (since it was made before I was born. :p ) but this tune sounds great. The vocals are very late 70's era rock-ish (in a good way). And the mix is nice and even. Nice quality recording.

Young whipper snapper are ya?LOL.My younger brother is 23 and Ive been turning him onto all kinds of older music since he was 12...A lot of people have never heard of ARS.I tried my best to nail the 70's vocal style.(thats my favorite era for some reason). Thanks for the compliments man.I really appreciate you taking the time to listen.;)

Thanks again for the bump Pete!;)

Merry Christmas you guys!

no prob man... actually.. I listen to a lot of older era stuff.. (as well as new stuff). I dig classic rock. It just happens that I hadn't heard this particular song before. But I've got albums with that "late 70's" vox style on 'em, and this is pretty freaking close. There's nothing more satisfying then accomplishing exactly what you set out to do on a recording, so props to you man.

Kramer,

I really like this. I don't think it's bad at all. Almost equal to the original, if you ask me. I'd venture to say that you are much better singer than I am. :D

I'm forced to listen at lo-fi since the hi-fi keeps stuttering for me.

What I did hear of the hi-fi, the guitar strumming nearly blew my ears out. You might wanna do a bit of equing on the rythym guitar part, maybe make it a little softer.

Outside of that, very pro!

wow... EXCELLENT! I'm most interested in how you recorded the vocals, obviously a little more than plugging in a mic. :) Sounds like you're doing some slight doubling of the vocal tracks. Could you PLEASE oh PLEASE describe in detail exactly how you recorded the vocals? The more detail the better, thanks! Once again, good job!

wow!

Hi Kramer. i have never heard the original. From reading what you said I thought it was going to be bad. It was aswome! the whole thing is great. Your vocal and harmony, perfect and the guitar flows..

thanks

xmas

Thanks for the compliments misterx!:o

The vocals were recorded using an AKG C-1000 S microphone that a freind left lying around my house. It was plugged straight into my recorder.....no fancy pre amp involved.

I doubled the lead vocals and backing vocals and then bounced them down to 2 tracks......lead on one track,back-ups on the other.

Added some reverb and thats it.

Hope this helps and thanks again for checking it out!
