Hey guys, I have been torn about this momentous decisions for a week or so. I have gone back and forth between the two and I just can decide. I am about to buy a new Mac, primarily for recording use. I have narrowed it down to the 24" 2.4 ghz iMac or the 15" 2.4 ghz Macbook Pro. I am really basing my choice on performance. Which is the better machine? I really love the massive screen of the iMac, but the Macbook Pro is just so damn sexy! I already have a not-so-nice Gateway laptop, which is what I am using for both recording and school now. I will be running logic pro 8 on the new apple with an apogee duet. Which computer is the better performing Mac? I'm sure your opinions will help! Thanks

If you aren't concerned about portability I'd go for the iMac. The performance differences aren't that great between the 2. The only advantage to the Macbook Pro is its portability. Which is why I have one. But the iMac is better bang for buck otherwise.

It would be mainly for in-home use, so I was leaning toward the imac initially. The large screen would be ideal for recording. I just wasn't sure whether the macbook pro and imac were on the same level performance-wise. They seem to be extremely comparable.

You'll probably find more use for the MacBook Pro. A powerful laptop is a lovely thing to have, and the MacBook Pro is the best you'll find. You never know, someone may want you to record them and their acoustic guitar at a live gig? Take lappy!
I'd have the MacBook, but whatever you go for, enjoy it! Logic 8 is lovely, too.
