has anyone here come to the point where they feel they've gotten a handle on how the input gains, compression settings, and limiter section and output gains interact with each other?
i'd love to here about some experimentation and parameter settings from anyone who is racking their brains with this effect like i am.
ultimately, i'm not trying to change my basic mix, only add power and volume to my final pair for burning cd's that come somewhat close to commercial releases.
now, i'm not using any outboard gear, only my 880ex. i do apply outboard compression from a dbx unit on initial inputs, as well as tube preamping. i typically submix stereo pairs down along the way, to a final pair of pre-mastered, and then apply the final mtk.
any suggestions?
