is a fuzz pedal a phase pedal?
erm. no. a fuzz pedal is a gain pedal like overdrive or distortion type stuff.
A phase pedal would be something like:

MXR Phase 90
Boss PH-3 Phaser

smartass...

if you can use some god damn punctuation i will stop being a dick to you!

I dont. realy want fen.der stuff.

why? do you even know why?

then get a crappy ibanez and a line 6 amp.

Can someone translate so I can understand what he's talking about?

I hope you're not applying for jobs with grammar like that...

Anyway, as for recommendations for you... As far as I understand it, getting a tube screamer won't help you much with a solid state. It's really designed for tube amps (altho the ts-9 option on my distortion factory still sounds nice through a solid... I'm just sayin' what GC told me). The only reason I bought a pedal was because my amp doesn't have an effects loop. The lesson here is, buy a nicer amp to begin with. I like Crates, but maybe that's just me.

Go to a used guitar store. I'm sure you can find one if you open a phone book. I got my guitar at one for $600 and I'll never need another guitar again (unless I want different sounds, but that's another story). If you're serious about guitar, don't cheat yourself now because you're gonna have to upgrade later anyway.

There was a GC manager who suggested to me that a Music Man amp's input was not up to handling hot inputs, and that was very important information to me at the time.

Thanks gremlin those carvin guitars look nice and i play rock some punk but not as much cause its kinda boring just power chords and only know one metal song but a few metal riffs too.

Ok if its basic rock and you want a rig that can go from standard (classic) rock, to a metal or punk sound I would recomend the rig I put together for my son..... (basicly to keep his grubby paws off my carvin custom shop guitars and legacy stack  )

I set my son up with a Epiphone korina explorer, running through a boss OS2 overdrive/distortion pedal in the front end of a 50w peavey valve king 112 tube combo, and a boss chorus and delay in the effects loop. The whole rig came to about 850.00. Although we bought the guitar used at a local music store and the pedals on ebay. but it all works well. and his rig is good enough to jam with just about anyone and pretty versitile as well.

Can you play 2 guitars on the peavey and im not sure about getting an epiphone heard there not that great, but what do i know.

Yes it has 2 inputs, but why would that matter? you cant play more than one guitar at a time anywho unless you have two extra arms your not telling us about.
The epiphone korina explorer is a good guitar, admitted its not a gibson. However; the construction quality is light years ahead of the squier and affinity lines fender puts out (I cant comment on the epiphone LP or SG models never played one) it has a set neck, and a nice solid chunk of wood for the body. not plywood like a lot of guitars in this price range. It stays in tune and plays pretty well and good natural sustain. The pickups could be a little hotter in my opinion but with a good disortion/overdrive pedal they hold their own and at a little over 400.00 new you really cant go wrong

Yeah, it's somewhere along the lines of pot and kettle. Although I do understand Tragick a little easier than MarshallTroll.

I have a marshall 30watts its an mg series(solid state, no tubes) and i want to get mabee an MXR distortion pedal.

HAHAHAHA I would lover to hear how that mess would sound. Might be something close to a mini Moog set to a saw type voicing

I'll third that.

Erm, no.
Go with what Tragik said and get yourself a Line 6 amp, it'll save you AND us a lot of grief.
OR, if you actually want a decent sound, go get yourself a good guitar (if you're anti-'fen.der' for some reason, get a Schecter or even a frickin' Ibanez) and a TUBE amp. Stompboxes are designed for use with tube amps, they'll generally sound like shit with solid state. If you like the Marshall thing (the name obviously means more to you than the sound if you're using an MG, though), splurge a bit and get yourself an AVT20. It'll sound so much better, even though it's just the tube pre. Then get a tubescreamer, if you like.
