Hi. I'm rebuilding my very first guitar and I need some help with it.

In the past 6 years of owning it, I have done quite a bit to it. I painted it, took off the frets, took off the neck, got a new neck, painted it again, killed a pick up, tried to fix it, failed miserably, painted it again, got new tuners, got a new tremolo arm and many other small modifications.

All I'm trying to do is fix it to where its as original as I can get it. I only have two pick ups out of the trio I had originally. The neck single coil and the bridge humbucker are all that remain. Basically what I'm asking for is some advice on wiring. I have everything else put together.

I've visited some web sites that have wiring diagrams and none of them seem to match my guitar. Here are the specs of my guitar:

1 single coil pick up (neck)
1 humbucking pick up (bridge)
Standard tremolo bridge w/ 3 springs
pick guard
2 tone pots
1 volume pot
1 5 way pick up selector switch
21 fret neck
standard stat tuners

If anyone can offer the slightest bit of help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

This might cost you. If you can't get it figured out, you may have to bite the bullet and take it to a Luthier.

I can't guaranty this guy will help. He has almost a hundred guitars in his shop to work on every day. He's in high demand. His shop fee is $60 and hour plus materials.

But if you state your question out precisely and exact with all the details, makes, models, etc., he may answer you for free. If he has time.

As you have had your guitar a few years you might want to change the selector switch, they do get noisy with age, use a standard Fender replacement switch, they come with wiring instructions, follow them carefully and everything should work like it's supposed to. Be careful and do a good soldering job, to avoid problems down the road. Good Luck

Get yourself a Stewart-MacDonald catalog. They have everything you need. They even have a pre-wired assembly all together with pickups and pick guard for $40. This I'm sure is probably the cheapest of cheap components, but they have everything else too if you're into spending more cash!

Good luck,
