I do hate asking much of you knowledged people. But something else that I am wondering about...miking acoustic guitars.

Experimentation is a must, this we all know, but I am unsure of what mics prove most useful for this. I have heard Leo Kottke saying that he prefers an old C-12, maybe a pair for recording his acoustic. I cant do this for simple reasons.

I have been miked with small condensors with pretty good effect - one on the neck one on the sound hole. And think this is probably the way to go for me. What kind of recommendations can I get for this purpose? NT-2? AT-4033? Schoeps? Neumann?

Hope ths will be useful to everyone here too.

You have to test them if you can, too. There was a review I read in a magazine (I forget which one) that said how great the MC012 was, but the writer found it a bit boomy on the guitar he was using. I was just about to buy one, so I emailed him, and said 'What do yout think it would be like on my nylon-string, then?' and he said 'I'm not copping out, but the only way to answer that question is to actually try it out with your guitar.' Which is why I don't own an MC0212. They're not for test in Singapore.
