My youtube is youtube.com/teejayflowtv, check out my "You A Lame" song, I think it sounds the best out of all mine so far, yet the quality is still not as best as it can be, typically after I record I do equalizer, compressor, modernexciter, and reverb, and it ends up sounding like that (a lot better than it sounds before I do all that). Any other hints to upping my quality and giving it that "official" sound? No matter how hard I try I can't seem to get it like that, although it does sound a lot better than it used to. My set up is a MXL 4000 condenser microphone mounted in my closet (makeshift closed area) connected to my m-audio fast track pro, which is connected by USB to my computer.

Ditch the reverb. Double the vocals or triple the vocals. Pan them as necessary. That reverb is just bad.

Tips

First I would say like the previous guy your voice doesn't sound very full, you sound like you could move up on the mic and exercise the proximity effect :) if thats not the case then your prob pulling to much out with your low cut on your eq. Next I would switch up the reverb you have on it, and before that you need to change your recording space or find a way to deaden reflections because you can hear the room in your vocal. Next If you want you could double it up but that will only really give it a vocal effect so its up to you. Lastly your vocals dont sound like there sitting in the track at all very well. Try to find a tighter balance between your vocals/instrumental during mixing. if you cant find a balance you might be mixing at to low a volume.

On the last note....there is a reason they dont make "official" songs/tracks/records/hits with mxls and fast track pros. Im not knockin your gear im just saying you can only make something sound so good with what you have.

Hope that helps!

Not sure which vocals is your but both sound very nasally, try 'singing' from a bit deeper in your gut, just my thoughts
