Thanks, Tobe! Where do you know "Teenage Girlfriend" from?

So by too distant do you mean too much reverb? Too buried in the mix? Both?

I would probably have heard a studio version of "Teenage Girlfriend" right here... it's a memorable song.

I just listened to mix 5, I'm not sure if that is the same mix I would have heard when I made my previous post, or if I am simply in a different mood, but the vox does sound quite clear. My comment was probably mostly about the level of the mix. I feel you have an interesting voice and shouldn't be bashful about putting it up-front and close.

P.S. Edit...

Regarding the mix of the vocal, Jonathan Richmond comes to mind, I would do some mix comps with his stuff if I were you.

Thanks, Greg!

You're welcome. This project was a lot more work than I had anticipated, but it was indeed fun and the songs were a pleasure to play with. I only hope you can eventually feel satisfied with what I've done.

And I don't remember the name, but the one that goes "Everyone is deeeeeaaaad, everyone on earth is dead" was probably my favorite. Really fun song.

Cool. Thanks!

I think the first mix you heard was probably 3 (maybe 4?), so the vox may be a bit more up front than they were.

I'll check out Jonathan Richmond. I don't think I've ever heard of him.

Well I'll be a little airplane yeah!

I reckon you 2 suit each other to a tee. You both have a very "New York" punk sound to me, and frankly I am amazed and disappointed that Vomit Hat hasn't heard of Richmond.

Well, to his credit, he's not old like us. :D

:D

Ha, me bones are creaking,

Just youtubing Richmond right now. My original comment is being reinforced. UP the vox vomit hat.

I didn't know Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads was in the Modern Lovers. Interesting. Well not really interesting, but yeah.

Anyway, I reckon Steve vomit would do well to comp the mix with modern lovers... vocal level wise... I think he should make a feature of his interesting vocal style.

Hmm, ah well.

Okay. Good stuff. Pop style. Kind of an odd groove. My very first thought was the drums sound too dry. But I've come to wet mine so never mind.

No mix nits, sounds done to me. I'm getting to really like your voice. The references to Geddy Lee are waning like the sun in Hockenberry's head.

I have not read the book, though it appears to be one I'd like. But I think you’re jabbing the book.

Good to hear you're still as crazy and whacky as the last time I was here, Steve!:guitar::p
Difference is your singing is lots better! I love the tune and Greg's drumming has really given it solidity. Mix is pretty good too. Hope you guys do more stuff together.

I listened to mix 5 and I think it sounds very good. The performance is tight, and I like the fact that the whole thing feels like it could come off the rails at any moment, but it doesn't because you guys hold it together really well. It's got a great kind of tension. The hook is great in the chorus too. I don't have any nits about the mix...I could hear everything and it was balanced and clear. Nice job!

I'm thinking from the one line 'almost nobody gets the point' that you didn't care for the book...lol. I loved both Illium and also Olympos, but they are definitely out there. It's pretty cool to hear a song about them...it made me smile.

Very Best,

Thanks, everybody!

I have heard of the Modern Lovers, though I'm not too familiar with their music. Looking it up now...

I actually really enjoyed Illium (Not so much Olympos though; I don't think it resolved the story very well). That doesn't mean I had any idea what was going on! :D

Your songs are waaaaay too catchy :listeningmusic:

I do like hearing the progression of mixes, you're always improving and its very inspiring to see hard work pay off.

Right off, this reminds me of a much more palatable version of Atom and His Package. Sorry, i know it sucks to have someone say "oh hey you sound like ****" But honestly. This is Awesome! I am digging the vocals and how they are mixed and the different layers. Awesome use of space all through out the tune. I like it the more i listen to it.

Senior English sucked.

Thanks, Shan! I'm A-ok with Atom and his package comparisons. I really like his stuff. (Plus, there's the one guy and his stack of electronics similarity in our live stuff)
Whoo, nerdy punks!
