If you had a choice of these two mixers?

This may be a no brainer for some, but, If you had a choice between a soundcraft spirit M8 and a mackie 1402 vlz pro, for use on a DAW, Which would you choose?

Any reasons why you would choose this one?

Since this forum has presented information that Mackie is "downsizing" its quality, I'd sure listen to Rat-Tracker's point.

But, then, I'll bet there are some Mackie owners out there who will swear by their products.

I guess when one buys one believes?

Thats my whole point, I know they are both good mixers, and they both would work just fine. So if one really had a choice between the two, I guess the soundcraft would have the edge?

Are the mic pres that much better? has any one here really compared the two?

The SPDIF outs on the M are a nice bonus also.

I have both and love 'em both... regarding to DAW, go catch Spirit M8. Smooth mic preamps & SPDIF.

I didn't find anything about it on the soundcraft site (maybe they're not very proud of it) but from what I've heard the spdif out is just 44.1/16. If so you would be better off sending the analog out to for instance any delta soundcard.
Can anyone confirm or deny it?
