OK, this is about 80% there. I will record the vocal over, probably the bass, but wanted to get a quick take of the mix.

I know it is Christmas, but trying to get some recording done over the holidays before I have to go back to my paying job.

This is my first mix with monitors and some mild room treatment.

EZdrummer on the drums (not sure I like that program yet), this was the $29 special (something like that)
Two acoustic channels/two mics, single take, panned mild left and right
Bass up the middle
Two tracks electric, two takes, hard panned right and left (different to add depth)
Vocal, dry main, slight reverb on send channel.

Anyway, thanks for listening.

Great work on the ez drummer to me as it sounds like someone playing.
To me it needs a bit of "air". Especially the voice, it sounds a bit.. blocked..
And more crashes after the drum rolls?

It's not a bad mix. I'm not crazy about some of the sounds though. The acoustic guitars sound boxy like a strummed banjo. The electrics are super fuzzy. The bass is kind of muddled and lacks definition. The mix levels are good though. Nothing is jumping out level-wise as being really bad or anything. On the mix, I'd like to hear less hi-hats. They're kind of sticking way out there to the left bashing away. Change the pattern up, go to the ride every now and then, and reel the hats in.

Thanks for the feedback. I do have reduction going after 12K, maybe need to open that up a bit.

I think I may have pushed the HH's up in the EZ mixer, will pull those back. I have another drum pattern that augments this to avoid too much repetitiveness, I may add those back or actually plug in my drum pads and add some variety.

The bass was going to be reworked, so good to know. I was trying to get it as clean as possible. E-G the intent there was for just fill/accent. These may bet a redo.

Acoustics, as this are the primary instrument will have to get a serious look over.

Thanks for the feedback.

I concur with the idea that hi-hat sounds too prominent on some passages. Otherwise, pretty good drum simulation. As other pointed out, the bass is hidden on the mix.

By the way, wouldn't be easy for us to listen if you upload the track to SoundCloud? I don't know why but I cannot open [.mp3] files, I always need to save them first to my computer.

Here recently, I have kept my rough mixes off of SoundCloud. Next posted update will go up there based on the comments that it isn't too bad.

Thanks for the comments.
