The thing is that i don't live in the states, i live in Costa Rica. I wanna buy a PC for recording with some very specific components. If i were to order from here, it would cost me about 35% more than in the states. So i'm looking for someone, hopefully in miami, or near to Florida, that i can send the parts to so he puts it all together and then ships it an address i have in miami. It is just the CPU because i can get the other peroferals here.... Of course i will buy this person something in exchange or pay some kind of putting together fee. So, who's up for the challenge?

You're not that far south from CA!!!

I was many thousands of miles and a border away from the place I purchased the computer upon which I presently record and type.

I wanted some very custom shit!

1 GB DDR RAM. A P4 running @ 2 GHz. Win XP Home Edition.

An industrial 4U PC case. Looks like a suitcase nuke!!!

The secondary drive in a removeable bracket configuration.

40GB for the O/S and apps. 80 GB for the data drive.

An additional 40GB drive in a removeable bracket for a project blank.

A fast CDRW.

64MB AGP video card

A bunch of USB 2.0 ports.

A few IEEE1394 ports.

A network card.

A very well-documented MB (Asus)

Mine was built, tested and delivered with the M-Audio Delta 1010 pre-installed and ready to ROCK!

I´ll check the link, but if there are any other volunteers....

hey, drstawl, how much did you pay for your rig?? because based on my calculations, if i build it myself, it would cost about $1500

There are some guys on the BBS who have offered their computer building services before. I think Chessrock is one, so you might want to drop him an email.

If you decide to have someone here build your system, you could save some cash by ordering items online and having them shipped directly to the builder.

Exactly that is what i was planning!!!!Who besides Chessrock do you think could help me out????

I've only built one computer, but its turned out pretty well.
Its an athalon based thing I did for the Digi 001 I just bought. What kinda stuff are you going to want done?
I live in Tampa...

Hey drstawl, sigma alredy sent me a quote but unfortunately it is about $600 more than if i put it together myself, it is too much, i´ll have to keep looking.....

Actually, they quoted $2700 and i know i can get it all for $2100 if i look around

>how much was that system drstawl?

At the then-current exchange rate the bill was $2600 USD.

delivered.

You can always save some money by building it yourself. But the original question was more pointed toward the OEM DAW.

That doesnt sound unreasonable to me.

Take into consideration you get warranty (go argue with a shop that gave you a MB that conflicts with the "what ever" from a different shop...or simply burns out) and a full working system tested (with people who know about audio - that can make a huge difference), Somebody to trouble shoot with when things go wrong, Plus all the work they put in....sounds like a decent deal.

you are right Shailat but remember my situation, i don´t live in the states, i wanna have someone build it and pretest it and then sent it to my country, if any piece was to fail afterward, i wouls still have to ship it to the US. If things go wrong with my system i know of a lot of peolple down here that would help me out. The initial idea was that the person building it would test the computer and ship any deffective parts back, so when my computer arrives here, i am totally shure that it is in perfect working condition.
