So I think my recording PC may need an upgrade pretty soon. I built it in Spring 07, and it wasn't even top of the line, but it was built with upgradability in mind. I am starting to hit some playback errors in my project files, especially when there's two VSTi's running and lots of tracks.
Obviously I need to upgrade both RAM and CPU, but if I was to do one now and one later....well here is what I have:
Windows XP SP2
Presonus Firestudio
Cubase LE
Pentium D 820 (one of the first dual core chips)
1 GB 667 RAM
So my two options would be throwing another gig of 667 ram in (667 should be damn cheap now) or upgrading the CPU to a Core 2 Duo, which are fairly cheap nowadays as well.
