hey 64firebird
(my fellow blues brother)

i dig your johnny winter icon...he is my all time favorite player.
SVR was damn good, but i saw johnny steal the show from him AND albert king at a memphis in may concert (the year SRV was killed). the band left the stage at one point and he strapped on the firebird and did some slide work that blew me away. johnny winter closed his set with "johnny be goode" and had 60,000 folks hollerin' "go johnny go!"...he fuckin' smoked man...best show i think i've ever seen.

(i can't see his face but i know his tatoos)

You're right, that's JW (I stole the pic from his web site and cut it down to size). I've seen him play a few times, but it's always been in small nightclubs. As a matter of fact, he played Dallas just a day or so ago, but it was on a week night and I couldn't go because I had no one to keep my son. Oh well, maybe next time.

Damn c7sus. That was a good one. One of the few times I might agree with you (even though I keep my mouth shut when I don't ;) ).

Can it br a type of music that I don't know how to play right now? If so, I'd pick cassical guitar. Nylon string. I don't think I'd ever get tired of that.

solo acoustic fingerstyle... between all of the tunings, there is no limit to the polyphony possible for a solo player.

Ya nailed it!. Just add flatpicking in there and Dan & I are on board, too.

I voted for R & B because you could still play blues, jazz, and rock under that genre.

had to pick blues.
if i could only play one kind of music i would have a real good case of the blues,so i may as well play em'.

sheppard

acoustic folk fingerstyle. Drop me and a 12 string off on an island and odds are I dont complain. Throw in a sports illustrated swimsuit calendar and youve lost me for good.

I would have to say Jazz, because it is timeless, yet modern at the same time. Its always evolving, and it has so many variations.

Christian Alternative...most people think that Christian music is a bunch of hymns and that's it..no talent...no imagination..but bands like Audio Adrenalyn..Newsboys...even people like Steven Curtis Chapman...break the stereotype...They know how to play..how to write...and also bring a message...

Sorry it wasn't on the list..but a few others weren't either..:)

God Bless!

yeah, im gonna change my vote to gospel....that encompases every style of music.

im glad to see gospel music branching out and reaching a whole new audiance.

i get tired of prechers bashing gospel rock groups, saying that the traditional gospel is the be all and end all of christian music.

who are they to say God only likes country and classical music?

Jars of Clay are cool.

For me, if it's guitar, I pick folk rock. Neil Young style.

for bass or piano though, I pick Jazz.

Jimistone,

I totally agree....what most old timers (most of which I totally respect on most other issues) that have been preachers for many years, seem to forget, is that when they were my age, most churches didn't allow any type of instrument in service at all...the hymns were sung only. So when they embraced Gospel (country/southern/etc..) they were looked upon like they are looking at us or our generation. I do believe that there are too many compromises in church now adays, but music (as long as the message is there) is a matter of taste. I better stop now before this busts into some huge religious debate....I just wanted to say that Modern Christian artists are very talented in what they do..

JR#97,

JOC definatively has some great music...did you know that their last album, the eleventh hour, they completely recorded, produced, edited, everything on their own....I guess they are home recordists at heart...hehe

God Bless!

BOTH TYPES

Where is country and western not that I can say anything about playing that type of music, you see I'm more of a guitar owner than a guitar player.but I sure do like my country licks
