Okay guys, this is just an idea, or consider it a 'feasibilty study'
This idea isn't perfect by far, so please don't flame, rather - give me some contructive feedback.
I'm interested in setting up a website that has sound samples of mic's in different positions on various instruments.
For example:
a D112 mic in a bass drum. Examples of the typical sounds that can be achieved by changing the angle and distance etc.
A small picture (based on the same one for all bass drums) could be made, showing the angle and distance of the mic in reference to the center of the skin. Next to this, a brief description of the equipment used and any other things that could alter the sound.
Now, I know you guys are gonna say that we'd all need the same mic pre's and perfect rooms etc. And, Ideally we would. But, the idea of this is not to serve the Studio proffesional, but to serve the small project studio type guy, who doesn't always have the time and money to try different mices in different positions etc.
Give me some feedback, and maybe some ideas on how to polish this idea. I think it could be a pretty good site.
Cheers
