I would like some feedback on this setup

First off i have a 12 input behringer with 4 mono and 4 stereo channels.....I have five drum mics so i mic 4 of them and put them into the xlr inputs with preamps on the mixer...then one into the mono jack of my stereo channel (i dont know if ican do this..if i cant tell me)(it will go through my 8 mic preamp) then i will mic my bass amp put through the preamp and put it into a mono on the stereo channel (once again if not possible please tell me) then i will record the two guitar tracks in stereo(through the preamp)....the mixer will be sent to the single output of my SBlab card...then into sonar2 xl. then vocals and lead guitar will be over dub with the preamp direct into the sound card....if you having any tips or mods please tell me........if i only want mono and a stereo track what do i do.....do i just use one jack and the other goes unused?

There's nothing wrong with doing things the way you've described but you may not get the results you expect, especialy when you use half a stereo channel for a drum mic and the other half for a bass guitar. Go ahead and hook it up as an experiment. I suspect you'll hear the drum mic in one channel and the bass guitar in the other, with no way of using the pan pot to center them. Maybe this would be okay if you wanted the snare or high hat on only one side of the mix. I suspect you want the bass to sit more dead center in the mix; I'm not sure this is possible given your set up, but try it and see.

You could do better than a Behringer mixer but it's fine to begin with. You'll learn a lot about how mixers operate and appreciate a better one when you finally move up.

Your soundcard is probably the weakest link in the chain. You can get a pretty decent entry level computer based interface for a little over a hundred dollars.

Thanks....i know my soundcard sucks....and i know that i could use more mono tracks for the bass and the other drum mic.....maybe i will overdubb the bass and only use 4 drum mics.
