I wanted to try an omni large cap so I got SP B3

and it's definitely a different way to go.

I had a small cap, B5 and it was ok, but not for vocal at all.

I didn't want another Berry mic, and the SP was cheap enough and I wanted to try something of theirs.

I did a solo acoustic and vocal and it was really nice to be picking up in such a natural way I could move around a lot, and even play w/ the dynamics by moving closer, without as much of a difference as a directional. I couldn't move w/ those b/c the differences were too pronounced.

It was really weird having such a balance bewtween my vocal and guitar. I'm kinda pissed I didn't get one, about XX years ago. I can't admit how long that is. anything 2 digits is just too much.... anyway, it's sick how that's what I do and that LDC omni is so perfect for it. (Do you hear my foot kicking me?)

But, I had to eq it a lot, not bright, and I had to add 4k and some upper. I'll have to change strings, and take away some foam in the room, and use my other cheap tube pre that's not as warm. - oops, I mean dark, or whatever the hell you wanna call lower....

Have yet to try all the other settings on it.

It's at Sweetwater. I never used them until just now. I emailed the sales guy and he called me back 2 minutes later, and I'm swapping and getting the combo, but I have to pay shipping x 2. still a good deal tho.

Excellent deal. There's a similar one on B1s in the UK at Digital Village. It's £64 for a B1, or £100 for B1 and VTB-1. Excellent but I've always had enough preamps not to need to go for it!
