thats pretty awesome. So I assume the rode nt5's are pretty great eh? I'll have to consider saving up for some someday for recording acoustic guitar (and drum overheads too prob)

but yeah, so you didn't record the acoustic guitar in stereo just recorded it multiple times and then made it like a stereo track by panning hard left and right? If so they were pretty well on time, I didnt really notice a lot of discrepencies in the timing. and where did you point the mic? Its such a nice bright sound (must be the acoustic too) my yamaha is pretty good but its not as bright as I'd like it. Did you eq it a lot and what not?

I had crappy computer speakers so I could really hear the bass part you were saying you miced with the sm7 (did you also use the sm7 for vocals)

btw my dad played the same "role" as you mentioned with my olderbrothers band haha

I'll do a stereo recording for an intricate guitar part that might be too hard to play twice, but for stuff like this, I always play it twice (or in this case--make them play it twice!). Besides, it's the tiny little difference between the two takes that make it sound so wide & rich.

I don't know if I'd call the NT5 great--it might be, but it's the best SDC I've got so I can't really compare it to the other "great ones."

And yep, the vocals were done with the SM7 too--lead vocals anyway; the group chant thing was tracked with CAD M177's I think...it's been a while.

Actually, Joe, it's my favorite bass cab mic too. Here's a tune where the bass was tracked with the SM7 (vocals too).

Thanx for the sample, Bob.;)
Sounds really good, especially on the vocals. Bass has great definition too.

Good band!

That's pretty awesome. I'm going to keep my eyes out for some nt5s!
