I wanna listen to some more tunes today, since I'm bored at the moment.... Post yer best, and I'll tune in!

I prefer 'streamed' music, as I have a very fast connection. I do not wish to download and playback (unless there is no choice).

Two sites I do not visit: mp3.com and iuma.com

Post away!

Hey Waldo,

I posted a couple more tunes to my page at No Where. :) Do ya visit that site often? :D They are both tunes that I posted here in the Clinic before, but since the other versions were on IUMA you might not have heard them.

You might have heard "Mute" on the voice chat, too, but I think that was right about when Ed fired me as the DJ. :D Not a big fan of folk-rock, I guess.

I hope you're having a good day!

Hehe, I played one of your tunes on Voice Chat.... Come Out and Play. I am quite the fan of folk-rock.... Okay, I'm a fan of music period. A devoted music enthusiast that would sacrifice everything for a little ear-candy ;)

And hell yah, I visit NWR alot, it rocks ;) Gee, am I biased? Lol

Come Out and Play - Your mixing, vocals, everything, honestly wouldn't change much at all.... Great acoustic number. Pure ear-candy, although I might turn the vocals down one hair, to balance it out a tiny weeny bit.

Mute - Aced. Maybe up the bass a hair or two on the right channel, s'bout all.

Fallen Angel - Okay, hang on, whiping tears out of my eyes so I can type.... Ah, there.... I'd turn down the vocals about 2 hairs, to balance out the somberness of the tune. Perfectly clear, nice rich bass, and good balance on the instrumentation. The vocals are a tiny bit distorted on the high-end, may be a result of the mp3 encode however... The ending was cut abruptly on the mp3, was this intentionally?

OK then Waldo..

This isn't a whole song yet (I never get whole songs done) I recorded it using only Cool Edit Plugins to try them out..

Meshuggah:

Lead elec. guit. in the first 30 seconds is 'drowned' by the acoustic and other instrumentation, you might try and bring it out into the front a bit more. Turn down the acoustic for the introduction, bring it forward at that last chord strike and gradually up to full as the elec. chord dies.

The background 'heeeyyyy yaaaaa yyyaaaa' is almost imperceptible until the second listen. I think maybe pan it a bit more center, and turn it up. Definately make 'em a bit more crisp... A little more top side eq, It blends a bit too much into the overall mix.

I think you might need to eq. down the hi-hat, a bit, and one or two cymbals, almost sounds like the one cymbal is a cow-bell, or a steel tube...

Sounds like it's gonna be a nice little ditty once it's finished ;)

It's a little bit low.. I've noticed I usually keep lead-guitars pretty low.

It's 4 voices 2 almost fully panned 2 less panned. They are ment to blend into the mix.. like a keybord or something.. still I almost think they are too loud.

This comes from exporting all drums in a stereo-wav from Fruity Loops.. I'll be more thorough with this in the final version..

Sounds like it's gonna be a nice little ditty once it's finished ;)

It'll be made with waves-plugins which keep the high-end better...

Thx for listening.

AtomicToyz,

http://nowhereradio.com/atomictoyz is sooo much easier ;)

Kick on the drums needs a definate boost, almost sounds like it was mic'd further back. Are the drums real? I hear no hi-hat, and the cymbals sound as if I'm holding a lightbulb to my ear and tapping it to hear the filiment vibrate...

Bass guitar is just about at the right level, maybe a tad higher.

Guitar tone is a tiny bit high, and a bit too far right.

I might use a bit more sustain on the guitar every now and then, there's alot of empty spots and hollowness to it. Maybe chorus, or a second guitar track?

Excellent finger tricks though, I'll never be able to play the guit. like that! Good listen.

Waldo.. when streaming isn't availible, just rightclick the link to the mp3. check properties and copy the URL of the .mp3

Create a new text document (.txt) on your desktop and paste the url into it. Close and save changes. Change the file extention from .txt to .m3u. Save.

Doubleclick.

There's your steaming streaming mp3.

Mesh,

I know, but I'm lazy... I could just log directly into my server as well, or make a quick cheat link... Hehe, you do know that I own NWR, right?

mwarkentin,

Nice and heavy!

Trees - Mix is a bit muddy... Instumentation sounds fairly good, I'd probably bring lead guitar up a bit more front, maybe boost it two or three bits.

The vocals need to be normalized in quite a few spots, they go low, then high, then low... Overall, they need a bit more volume, but in parts they need to be turned down a bit. Definately during the 'grunts' they need to be boosted. I'd also eq them a little bit higher. They are also a bit short, maybe a tiny bit of delay, micro-verb and sustain, even a small 'hall' effect.

Crash needs to come down, overpowers the rest of the drums. Drummers always hit them suckers harder than everything else...

Prejudice - Pretty much the same as trees, although the vocals are a better on overall volume, and the lead guitar is a bit louder than on trees, I'd still turn it up. Eq. the grunts lower ;)

Definately play with the panning a bit more, most of the volume is on the right, all the highs are on the right, lows are on the left....

Greg,

http://nowhereradio.com/gregkat is also easier ;)

I assume you are talking about 'I will' - It's the newest song you've posted:

Good mix! I might up the acoustic a tiny bit, bass is just right. I love the harmony on the vocals, perfect blend there.

On my timer, the cut should be little sooner, about 2:48. But maybe only .75-1db. The hi-hat is at times a bit loud, starting in the bit between 2:24 and 4:44.

Excellent use of reverb and sustain for effect on the vocals.

The background sound in the intro is almost like the falling bomb sample from Half-life, of course very modified ;) Very nice addition!

Good listening!

Thanks waldo,

Actually "The One" is the new song even though I uploaded it a couple of weeks ago. If you have a chance let me know what you think of it. As far as "I Will" I agree with you about the hi-hat when it opens. I wanted some emphasis maybe not that much
Thanks again for your kind words.

Greg

Greg,

Ah, yes, this song I've played a whole bunch of times already ;) First impression was the quality of the mix. Excellent.

I might pick up the vocal volume a tiny bit, turn the bass down, and turn the acoustic up. The harmony vocals are perfect level, so make sure you group them faders if you up them.

Once again the hi-hat gets a little high on open, but not by much. It's only used a few times in the song, so I think it's fair to say it's nothing to worry about.

That's about all I could say, otherwise it sounds pretty sweet ;)
