I run anything into the Mr8 and it sounds hollow as shit. My DMP3 into a sub mixer via 1/4"-XLR makes the mixer clip like a motherfucker, even with the dmp3 turned all the way down. If I use 1/4" to 1/4" into the mixer it doesn't seem to do this? When I run from the mixer into the mr8 and arm the tracks I get this fucked up ass hollow fuzz sound. Its fuckin drivin me nutz! If I plug the DMP3 into the MR8 and arm the tracks I get this fucked up ass hollow fuzz SOUND! I hear the stupid shit in the headphones, and when I run the mr8 back into a stereo channel on the mixer. WTF!!??

mr8

is it only coming out of the headphones ? This is common the preamps are faulty and turning the thing on and off fixes it. If its coming out the monitor outs, you have a problem in the signal chain...

i run mine with a mixer and no problems, id disconnet everything and reconnect one at a time to see where the problem is...
you arent already clipping coming out of the mixer are you?

keep the gain so the meters on the mixer only go into the yellow, turn the trim down on the mr8, anything to avoid cipping

Karma for hating liberals

It's Karma for hating liberals. You'll get used to it. :D

Hard to figure out - maybe if you explain it again with more profanity.

sounds like a phase issue to me..."fucked up ass hollow fuzz SOUND!" pretty much describes some out of phase stuff.

This could come from having the +'ve's on SOME of your connections wired to the -'ve, and certainly in the case of the DMP3, you are using 1/4"-XLR cables.

So....go get some good fucking cables, and your muthafucking sound should improve mate! LOL ;)

?

If no one else will ask you to watch your language, I guess I will. If you've been around here longer than I have, I know it's not my call and none of my business. I'm asking anyway.

Good luck with your noise problem.

Geesh you guys (and gals) are sensitive! :p

Then again, I guess this is NOT the cave!

And He is a conservative ganja lover! :D

I fixed that shit a while ago. And it wasn't out of phase.
Yeah fairmont, I guess it must be a perk for a god hating liberal to not have to worry about karma:D

Sounds to me like your DMP3 is the problem and not the MR8. Re-reading your post, you dont have problems when plugging straight into the MR8?
Try and eliminate each piece of the signal chain, including all cables.

Well, if politics must be dragged into this, at least tell us what you did to remedy the situation....

Emailed fostex. They gave me a couple of ideas. Sadly, I've emailed them around fifteen hundred times:D So I don't remember the exact response. I know they told me to turn the mr8's trim all the way to line, because it simulates bypassing the preamp. How you might ask? I don't fuckin know!
I also said "fuckit" and used the 1/4" to 1/4"trs even though I don't like to. Why you might ask? I don't fuckin know!..haha
anyway! I also made some use of the hi/lo gain switches on the DMP3. I mistook them for a hi/lo bypass type switch. I didn't understand what it did completely. Then I read over the dmp3 manual 60 times and POOF!
*A fuckin lightbulb*:)
