Hi there.

I have Windows XP, and my us-428.

I "installed" it but it doesn't work, I used the tascam's website Windows 2k's driver. But it doesn't seem to work as it should.

What i need is someone ( better if it's more than 1 or 2 ) To tell me how do you EXACLTY install US-428 on your PC. Please please help me. I'm from Chile (latin america) and the support service ain't good.

Thank you very much.

ps: pardon my bad english.

Mismo problema

Si sabes de alguien que te pueda ayudar... Estoy teniendo el mismo problema.

There is this window that pops up and says something about windows xp not recognising hte logo or something. If you get an answer please let me know man, i'm having problems as well here.

Gracias.

what exactly goes wrong?

oh, make sure you have Windows XP SP1 or later because the original XP had a bug in the USB tranfer that caused dropouts and stutters in digital playback.

btw, i've been using the 428 with a Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop for over a year now. once i upgraded to SP1, i've had no problems

crosstudio,

The problem I have is that I don't have the darn installation cd, all i did was get the file from the page. do I need the installation cd, is there a workaround to this that you know of?

Thanks!

to my knowledge there is nothing on the CD that is necessary. as long as you get the drivers from the tascam site you should be fine.

are you using WDM or ASIO drivers? I'm using WDM and it had to install twice. once as a WDM driver, and once as a soundcard driver.

I'm not sure which driver I have, the problem appears to be that i'm caught on a loop with the found new hardware wizard. It keeps on telling me that it's found new hardware. I've installed service pack 1 in my win xp machine.

Don't see what could be wrong and I need to start recording asap...

What do you think I could do?

Thanks

I picked up the Tascam US-122 (as a secondary interface), and couldn't get it to install in XP either (I was stuck in the loop too), but I found the solution (for me anyway).

Install the "Windows Messenger" update from "Windows Update". I don't know why it needs this, but once I did that, it worked. I don't want "Messenger" running, so I disabled it once I had the US-122 installed, and it's working fine now.

Hope this helps.
