I recently bought a Quattro "Delta 44" Break-Out box that comes with a special soundcard. You can plug mics in but you barely get anything recorded so I preamp it through my 100 watt Line6 guitar amp. I NEED a better method of recording. I have an SM57 mic, I am thinking about getting more but first I need to know another method of recording. Please help.

Thanks in advance...

perhaps get a dedicated mic pre amp... or you could go a small mixer like the behringer 602 or the like...

Keep the methods coming, I need all of hte help I can get.

When put the SM57 on the snare, it only picks up a damp sound, no poppiness to the snare, same with the kick. Theres no definition to the sounds. Please help!

For the love of God, I'm not trying to be annoying about this, but you leave me no choice!

Uh...... dr.colossus already answered your question. What else do you need?

Your card probably has Line-Ins, not mic-ins, so if you plug a mic in there, it WILL sound like crap and be very quiet. You need to pick up a cheap mixer (with inserts) or a preamp.

This is what happens when you ask drummers for recording advice .;) Check out the other forums that deal more specifically with preamps, racks and recording techniques for newbies.

There were some subtle hints as to the forum titles in that reply.
