If you're happy with the piano then it's worth 900 easily.

The first piano tuner I had needed my verbal permission to be absolved of any responsibility if any of the strings snapped while tuning, before he would do it. So having humped this baby down the stairs from a second floor flat and across town to my flat, I was nervously waiting for this loud SNAP but it never came. I was happy with it after he'd tuned it.
When the blind guy tuned it, he told me to leave a jar of water inside to deal with humidity. I don't know if this made the slightest bit of difference, but I did it anyway.
I never noticed it go out of tune after a short period, but what do I know ? I used it for recording alot but because I used to tune the guitar or bass by ear, I'd discover when it came to overdub time, that often, my tuning was slightly out. The instrument was in tune with itself but little else.
Hooray for varispeeding.
And I was happy with the piano.
As a totally irrelevant postscript, I sold it in 2001 just before the birth of my first kid. Last year, while doing a delivery, this lady kept looking at me and acting sort of familiar. It turned out that she was the one I'd sold the piano to. Her daughter was still using it. I'm glad it went to a good home, even if it arrived out of tune.

hot rods? tell us more I live near Daytona and there's hot rods galore around here.

Over the years I've built many cars... some I simply restored, others I put in big engines, and for a while I got into turbocharging, OEM EFI code (source code, i.e. disassembling the programming language they used), and combining all of those things to make "sleepers" - cars and trucks that look ordinary, but don't drive ordinary.

Just more of the same - hobbies to eat up all my time and throw my wallet at overhand lol.

thanks [miscellaneous persons] for you mix
Does anyone else find that irritating? Especially the miscellaneous persons involved?

Maybe it's just me - Or it's that I (okay, most people I know in the industry) try to keep a certain level of discretion out of courtesy...

But maybe it's just me.

It's not just you. I don't know if I find it irritating so much as just plain weird...and maybe a bit sleazy (and off-putting). Reminds me of sellers on Ebay who fill their own comment pages with huge responses about how happy all their customers are... I never buy from those guys.

I also find it hilarious when (at certain other forums) someone will post "I'm looking for a mastering engineer please contact me (etc., etc., etc.)..." and all these guys post "PM'd you!"

Why TF would someone do that? Seriously... Why?

"Hey - I PM'd him, so back off!"

"I PM'd him and so did (insert popular engineer's name), so now I'm cool!"

(and the way I tend to read it):

"I PM'd him and now everyone here knows I'm desperate for work and will sell my soul for a gig."

Which is fine - Don't get me wrong - I have slow times, we all have slow times, etc. But the last thing you want to do when you're slow enough to be working for nothing is to advertise the fact that you're slow enough to be working for nothing.

And I won't even get into the way the whole "cattle call" mentality of the industry is cheapening the whole system from the bottom up. But that's for another thread...

Many people who use forums turn off their PM notifications so when they get a PM (or several) they're not aware of it right away, so over the years it's becoming common behavior for those sending a PM to also post that they did so the OP knows to check their inbox.

I have mine off because my emails also go to my black berry, and I often do not have the self control NOT to follow the links while driving, because I'm bored sitting in heavy NJ traffic.

Yes. A bit. The quality issue aside..It's not that there is just one thread, but there are a couple, and I think there was at one point 3 on the front page of HR.

I think I will start one as well... bait and switch ; )

Moderator? Clean up in isle 1.
