Been awhile since I posted. This is for a new project of mine... been touring around mid-atlantic (North Carolina, Virginia, DC, Maryland) for awhile building it up, getting ready to release an EP. There's a 6 string acoustic, a 12 string, a bass, and two vocals on this track. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated and if you have any idea what genre this would be classified as that would be even better!

Sounds alright. As for genre I would say it's simply a rock ballad without drums.

Sounds pretty good. I think you could stand to turn the bass up a little. But it's ok where it is too. Acoustics sound real good, and the vocal isn't overly sibilant. Nice.

@Murdersgalore thanks for the feedback - actually never heard anyone say it was a rock ballad before so thanks for that perspective. For the past year and a half we've heard it called blues, folk, roots, and americana.

We opted to go with no drums to recreate what we do live, which is why the bass is low, but the track needed the low end to glue it together.

@chrisharris you think the solo has enough presence? Is it beefy enough? I also eq'd the vocal, pulled it down between the 200-225 range so it didn't distort... it was a little muddy

a rock ballad without drums.

Isnt that a Kick drum I hear ? :laughings:

When I played in a gigging original band we always had this dilema if the recordings should include more than what we could produce live.

I say "when in Rome act like a Roman"

Do whatever suits a recording best, do whatever sounds best live. :)

Nice Recording.

It's actually a foot stomping on the ground, EQ'd for effect, combined with the sound of us hitting our guitars - good ears

Yeah, this is nice!

The solo does need something in my opinion, not sure if it's just volume or maybe some "beef" in the low midrange, I'd just experiment.

Vocals are really nice.

Nicely done.

Regards,

Put this one in the Good Song genre. Vocals are captured well. really nice. I'd like to hear the acoustics a little more in your face and not hard panned. I think if there were more tracks and/or instruments, then hard panning would work. But with just the two acoustics and bass, I think the acoustics should be L/R 50% or so.

but that's just nitpicking and personal preference... :)

Enjoyed the song, thanks for sharing.
