I need some opinions on this very important mix.

Another alternate mix with much different guitars and a couple other changes.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. ;)

Sweet. I didn't keep the other mixes on my computer, but did you do something with the snare?

dude, love the intro guitars on this one. HUGE sound. and the snare pops through much better. i like the clicky snare too. the vox might be a bit too loud? or maybe bring up the guitars a bit, they seem to be slightly drowned out by the vox, but it could just be me and my crappy monitors. excellent work though. i love the breakdown with the harmonized guitar, and the solo has a lot of feeling in it too. this song is really well put together, a fitting tribute for sure. keep up the good work man.

Thanks guys.

I believe I turned up the snare just a tad, and the change in the guitars made it sound a little different.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'm waiting for another sit down with the band so I can get their impressions now. And it looks like I will definitely be getting this mastered....I'm thinking of going with our own Massive Mastering...woot!

Yeah guitars sound better.
They sound bigger also im sure. Is that just 2 guitars panned full?

Go get it mastered. :)

It's 4 performances actually, 2 panned hard, and 2 at about 80% either way.

Thanks!

Cool. They sound nice and wide.
My mixes I cant seem to get that. I use 2 different guitarists, and doulbe track the choruses. Guitar 1: hard left, 30 right. Guitar 2 hard R, 30 left.

Perfect balance in the latest mix, to my ear. I like the weight of the gtrs and the cymbal sound at the intro. The mix was good before because it had well done parts and arrangement, but now there’s a boost in impact when everything is in perfect balance. There’s something going on between the backing and lead gtrs between 3:18-3:31 that’s particularly good… a rich thumpyness to the low gtrs and a sweet brightness to the lead. Well done.

Sorry about your friend. :(

Overall mix sounds pretty good to me. Great performances. I can personally do without the death-growl vox, but thats just me. The drumming is spectacular. I think the cymbals are a little shrill and maybe could use a little taming. I'd personally like more snare 'pop' too. Other than that, it sounds pretty awesome. The guitars sound great, and the bass is just present enough without stepping all over the kick and guitars. Good job. :)

I listened through all of the mixes and you really cleaned up it nice for the last one. I think the guitars came out very well and you fixed up the drums good. Everything seems just right to me. How far away was your snare mic, I feel like I hear a little bit of the room on it..,maybe im hearing the snare in the overheads or the hat mic.

Awesome mix, cool song, good performance. :)

You guys are really making me feel good about this project.
I appreciate it so much.

Erockrazor, I had the snare mic pretty tight, but since I have such a small room I don't use any room mics - I take a send from each drum to a room reverb. A bit too much send on the snare maybe?

Man....there's so much good shit in here today...

Once again metalhead...you's da shiznit! :D

Sorry to hear about your drummer.

Being a metal head, I have to say that the mix is pretty nice. Maybe you can fix the snare a little more and make have more punch and more upfront.

Being a hardcore Avenged Sevenfold fan - I can't help but compare this song to Avenged Sevenfold's "Unholy Confession". :/ On top of that, my girlfriend just walked in a couple of minutes ago and said "cool, an A7X cover! What band is this?" before pausing for a moment and then saying "hey this isn't A7X!"

In fact, after leaving this song on loop for awhile, I am reminded of the sound of the band's earlier album, "Waking The Fallen". My kind of stuff. m/

Not that that's a bad thing. Can't wait to hear the finished mix.

The 3rd mix sounds really good. The guitar tone reminds me somewhat of Between the Buried and Me. Everything sounds good to me.

Sorry to hear about your loss, and on stage none the less. It's crazy how life comes at you so unexpectedly. I know I would be destroyed if I lost one of my bandmates especially the ones I see all the time and write all the tunes with.
