Hello guyz..
i'm really new to all these stuff so plz forgive me if i sound a lil stupid.
I do a lot of freestyles but my friend record them for me and i know he uses cool edit pro but now i got to learn how to do it my self and i just downloaded the full programm.

Could anybody plz help me and like give me a manual of how to do it or jus write me some steps i would appreciate much..

I just want to put my voice over a beat...in good quality.

THANX ALOT...

Check out the Help files. Everything in the manual is there. Get a copy of Audio Editing With Cool Edit Pro by Robert Riley. Don't expect anyone to send you the 300+ page manual: most of them were downloaded to a printer, and new ones are not to be found.

Yeah, that's right. Plus, it's also helpful to know that in the downloaded version, you can click on the link that takes you to the Syntrillium page, where all sorts of help can be found. If that doesn't work, there's always Adobe. But they're wankers, right? They just want money.

You might ask your friend to teach you. This is a good place for discussion of specific problems, but, lol...just "HOW DO I RECORD?" is probably not gonna' get a lot of responses here.

I dunno'...plug a mic into the line in of your soundcard, hit the "R" button on a track, hit the red dot near the bottom, and start recording.

first of all thanx guyz for replyin to ma msg but see chrisharris that ain't tha problem, tha prob iz how to mix tha voice with tha beat without any faults in time or any of these stuff....and about the manuals i tried everywhere and thwey all seem to be taken away and not there anymore plus the web pages that r provided by tha programm don work as well.if any of u guyz know where to get it from jus tell me and i will download it.. THANX

Bazooka...

For fresstyles and stuff you should do like my man above me said... plug a mic in, load the beat, hit the red R button for the vocal track, and press record. If its a freestyle, the words may not match up all the time, that solely in the hands of your boy spittin and his ability to stay on a logical beat...

Try doing a song thats prepared, a written, then drop a "Nice Presence" Reverb effect on the entire vocal track...that should get u started on using the program to get crisp recordings...

hope ull tryt that and it helps...let me know if u need some other ideas...

yo crispycutz thanx heaps mate..
jus one thing and i know this is gonna sound stupid but i haven't used tha programm b4. so crispycutz wat u mean by load the beat??? do i like play it in a cd player and put the volume high then freestyle iz dat wat u ment?? or do i like load it in the programm which iz really wat i'm lookin for because i tried recordin by playin the beat on a cd player but the quality waz shit..

if u don mind man jus get bak to me on that one..and thanx alot for tha reply bro...

APPRECIATED!!

lol...ok. Look. Start the program. Make sure that it's in "multitrack" mode. You can tell by looking at where I put arrows. If it doesn't have those lines, then you need to hit the green button that I've circled.

Once you're in multitrack mode, then hit "INSERT" --> "WAVE FROM FILE" and scroll to wherever you have your beat...it may be on a CD. Double click on wherever your beat is. That should get it into the multitrack session and put it onto one of the tracks.

On a DIFFERENT track, hit the "R" button and start recording.

Good luck,
chris

yeah you just "Insert" the waveform...(in this case the instrumental/beat) and in the seperate track you set the vocals like we mentioned b4...

-when recording the vocals, its good to run the beat through headphones so you get just the words through the mic, and not the beat through the speakers as well.

-make sure the levels on the bottom dont tap the 0db reds too much...u might have to lower the beat like 3 or so dbs...

...everybody check out my "Adlib" thread, lets talk concepts and techniques...good luck bazooka keep playin aroun'....

Ayo thanx alot guyz especially chrisharris & crispycutz..

Dat's great help the picture and eveything i'm gonna try it rite now and i will give u guyz some feed back on how it went ..

THANX AGAIN....

Yo guyz i tried wat u taught me and it sounded sick tha freestyle especially wen i gave it that "Nice Presence" Reverb effect it waz soo good so thanx heaps..

One more thing plz help me understand these stuff:
M = Mute
S = Solo
R = Recording

where do u use each of these and wat happens we u press 2 of them tha same time?????

U see wen i wanna record a song and for example i got tha beat on 1 track, my first verse on the second track now i want to put tha Chorus on the third track but i won't to play my voice and the beat while recording it so i know exactly were to put tha Chorus becoz at tha moment i start a third track and i just make it play were i want to put tha Chorus but it doesn't come out in tha rite position so i need to listen to my first verse and record my Chorus.

PLZZZZZZZZZZ HELP!!!

Gee, you ask some tough questions. R=Record. This arms a track for recording. S=Solo. This mutes all the tracks except the solo'd one. M=Mute. This mutes that track. R+M=will record. R+S=will record but you won't hear any other tracks. S+M=you will heat that track only.

...let's try something really cool: here's a link to the manual
http://www.alfors.com/Ruzne/cep2man.pdf

....look this stuff up in the manual, and THEN ask somebody else to explain it if you don't understand! Otherwise you are asking us to read the book for you.;)

........

for rill...

yo check it make sure your using headphones during recording okay mate?

For a chorus, all u gotta do is click the yellow time positin line a little b4 the end of the verse...

make sure you un-click the R record button on the vocal track,
then click R on for the chorus track....

If u put the put the yellow line in posistion, when you hit the red record button at the bottom, you should hear just the end of the verse and then spit the chorus....

USE HEADPHONES 2 hear the beat...dont have em playin thru the speakers when recording....

Drop a Delay, Chorus, Chorus in unison effect on that strip and keep it movin....

b4 u ask, go to Edit then "Mixdown to File" to save the song as one track make sure the levels are good b4 u do though.....

good luck keep me posted...hehe
