I need help setting up

I have Alesis QSR, cakewalk, mbox 2, and midi keyboard. I need help hooking this up. My midi keyboard only has midi out. I have connected one way and when I record, the tempo sound was a bass sound. Can someone help me? THanks. Oh I also have Pro Tools but I don't like the midi feature with this program.
