like my subject line says...I need help. I've always used pedals but I want to switch to a rack. I need a power amp that will do a good job without emptying my account. Any suggestions besides "try e-bay". I've seen the marshall 8008 already. it has been discontinued though. Could you point me in a direction where I can view them. I live in the country and our music stores dont carry them. thanks

My current touring rig is a POD Pro and 1800 watts of Crest power.

Obviously, that may be a bit much...

But if you're looking for a straight power amp, get one with at least twice as much power than you cabs can handle... You'll appreciate the headroom later.

Mackie power amps are fine and reasonably priced. As far as the tube and "specialty" guitar power amps are concerned, none have impressed me enough. Especially for the price tag on most of them...

Rocktron Velocity 120 is plenty big for most clubs, especially if you're just miking the cab and going through the PA.

It is just a power amp, and won't replace what ever your pedals were doing.

And yes, you can find them on e-bay:)
