I need help bad plz

allright here it is...I need help getting my vocals to sound like this guys i know at http://www.soundclick.com/pro/view/01/default.cfm?bandID=290742&content=music listen to the first song.....this is what ivv'e got for equipment...i have an almost sound proof booth with acoustic foam pretty nice for homemade...a neumann tlm 103 mic with pop screen shocks n all that...an alesis 3630 compressor (which i just got and would love to know some good settings i understand the concept of compressing just not where the knobs need to be)2 rokit 8" studio monitors...an mbox..a nice pc with pro tools,adobie audition,waves platinum bundle,and almost every plug in that can be bought that sounded good to me.....and my newest piece is a KorgD3200 portastudio...i've been making music for awhile i have over a hundred songs...one newer song ive done on this new mic is at www.myspace.com/emortalsoldierz its at the bottom called still got it...but it just doesn't sound smooth like the above song i linked by dolla dae...i know besides the built in pre's in the korg and mbox im lacking a pre amp but i had the blue robbie and it didn't make the differance i was looking for...pretty much i have incredable new songs but want my qaulity like the top link plz can someone tell me the steps i need to take to get as close to that as possible ty

for one hawk that 3630 for whatever you can get for it. It is (IMO) the worst sounding compressor out there. The compressors in Audition (Dynamics Processor) and Pro Tools are a much better option and sound a decent bit better to my ears.

Sorry that I didn't answer all of your question... but a word of advise is not to get too cought up trying to get your music to sound like something already done. You still want it to sound somewhat unique. Try working on your own sound.

If you want a similar production value as Dolla Dae, then I would recommend hiring the same engineer and/or recording in the same studio. That would be a start.

I good Pre will make a world of difference...

You have some nice equipment there. Why skimp on the Pre-Amp?

An upgrade there will be def worth it.

well i had a blue robbie which was suppose to be good but a noticed a slim next to none differance i'm thinking about picking up a groove brick ive heard there more in ur face...i cant record where he does cause mississippi's a good ways from ct....and i've never really used this compressor on any recorded songs...i went to another site and its a local studio that sounded identical to dolla dae's i think im just gonna by studio time i'll never get the sound i want on my own...i just wish i had a way to mix my vocals real smooth and rich sounding and very full...are there any tricks to doing this any good engineers know?...like say if u had the equipment i had how would you go about mixing down something ur happy with the way it came out but just that smooth rich n full sound was missing?
