I need a headphone preamp. Nothing fancy, just something to get the job done and have a clean channel and volume control. Suggestions?

The main reason is that it would be pointless for me to have the headphone amp in my rack seeing as I have both a studio and a control room. And despite the fact that generally I've only used 4 sends to the HM-6, it's a solid unit.andycerrone said:And also, why would you need the 6 channel one when the 4 channel fits in your rack?

Bad batch, or change at the factory?

andycerrone said:Now with a headphone amp, just plugging in headphones cuts off sound to the monitors, or is there something you'd have to do to turn the monitors down?
RAK said:Nope. The headphone amp doesn't control anything else. What's your setup/signal path? You have to either just turn the monitors down, or route the signal so that it only goes to the headphone amp, and not the monitors.
For example, without knowing your gear or setup, something like:
Monitors going to Main Out L & R
Headphone Amp hooked up to Line Out 1 & 2
Assign signal to Main Out L & R
Bus signal to Line Out 1 & 2
Mute the mains when you don't want it coming out of the monitors.
