I'm going to purchase the AKG C3000B

I found a guy who's selling it for about $100. I'm going to use it mainly for recording vocals and I currently have an MXL V67. I'd appreciate if you left your thoughts/opinions on the AKG for vocal recording or dropped some links to some professional reviews of it.

You won't like it. Pretty harsh, see if you can try it out first. The 2000 is a much better mic, if I were you I would save up for an Audio Technica 40__, a lot better mic for the $ or a CAD M179

it's not really a stunning mic, but it's a bargain at 100 dollar. If you're looking for something better than your v67g, i'd hang on to your money and save for something more expensive. if you're looking for some extra mic's for cheap, than snap it up.

Would I notice a difference with the AKG than with my current V67G?

I'll be using it solely for male vocals with an M-Audio DMP3 Preamp and an EMU-1212M soundcard... Will I get a better sound out of the AKG than the MXL with that setup?

It's a 300 dollar mic and I can get it for $100... seems like a steal to me.

My best advice? No question. Buy that mic. Then sell it for about $160 on ebay, and buy a C2000B, which is a pretty good mic.-Richie

Are you saying the C2000 is better than the C3000?

I was considering selling it for about 200 then buying a KSM27 for KSM32 on ebay for around $240-300.

Yes. That is exactly what I am saying, without a shadow of a doubt. C2000B is a small diaphragm mic in a larger housing. Good on acoustic guitars, cabs, percussion, and a fair vocal mic. C3000B is a multipolar large diaphragm paperweight that is fair on bass cabs, and not particularly good on anything else, especially vocals. But- it's worth more than $100 on the open market, so it's really not a bad investment. Just don't use it for recording things, and you'll be fine.-Richie
