this song is like oatmeal. no matter where you go, oatmeal always tastes like oatmeal. nobody ever orders it, but everybody can tell you what it tastes like. it's not that people hate it. it just doesn't excite anyone.

Axe – thanks for the listen man. Next step…I have to get my guitar chops back to at least the level of this track. I tried to play it a little on my acoustic and it was a sad state of affairs :( :D. And yeah…I’m glad it’s up and running too. Except I just lost one more excuse for not getting anything done :D.

Erland – hehe…I can’t wait to hear what you come up with. And BTW it’s YEEEEHAW!! :p :D LOL. Thanks for listening :)

bdbdbuck – Thanks. Yeah that guit is pretty hot. I could have played with some eq on their, but since they weren’t my tracks I figured that I wouldn’t mess with it too much. In fact, I’m still not clear on the deliverable. For all I know I just need to give here the vocal track naked so she (or someone else she works with) can mix it. But this sure was fun just to try something different than the stuff I usually do.

Toki – Thanks. LOL…yeah there was a little bit of straining going on there. Funny, I don’t remember having to stain so much in that range years ago. I guess I’ll chalk it up to the rust factor. I think maybe I need to keep this backing track to use as vocal exercise and pop that range back up there a bit :D. And yeah…I think I always sound better with a few belts under my belt :D. (I’m not sure there would be a consensus on that however :D. Thanks for listening. I appreciate the comments. I’m finding I have to do things a bit differently with not using compression during tracking & the new soundcard. So this was a great learning experience.

super_critic – Thanks for playing. Not my song…so…I guess that’s a bit irrelevant. My personal feelings on the song are also irrelevant (and I’m not telling what they are ;)). I was approached to provide a vocal track for a song pitch demo, so that’s what I did. These guys gave me some great advice and lent me their ears on the first version, which I greatly appreciate. I made some changes accordingly and came up with something I’m reasonably happy with given the circumstances. That’s what this place is all about. FYI

The vox sound great.

Some suggestions would be a little more/big reverb on them. If you did some nice three part harmonies during the prechorus and chorus that'd be nice. "Ahhs" during the prechorus and sing the words during the chorus.

REAL minor nit - the word "sawmill" at :09 has little hesitation to it.

edit: the word "for" at 2:27 has a weird sound to it. Yet another real minor nit.
