Im looking for like a 6 inch patch cable, I can only find Hosa's, I would make my own but that would be really expensive. I have like 10 pedals and am a stickeler for tone. I can find no technical specs on this cable.

Do you think it would only minumally affect tone to have like 10 of these in my rig? or are there better made 6 inch patch cables out there?

I try to avoid cables with molded ends. Look for metal screw-on ends. They are usually higher quality and they are possible to fix unlike the molded ones. This isn't so much a sound quality issue as it is a reliability issue. When you are playing live you don't want a cable shorting out on you.

Agreed.

Making cables should not be more expensive, though it won't be a lot cheaper either. If you want nice cables that are shorter than you can find, you can buy longer cables, cut off each end at about 6" (or whatever length you want), and solder a jack on. It's more expensive than soldering both ends, but half the work.

OT, but what the hell.... I'm curious...

How is having 10 pedals being a stickler for tone?????

Seriously....

Everything you stick in between your guitar and your amp will crap on your tone..................

my vote is in.... make them. And if you are going to end up needing a few cables, theres tons of places that sell bulk connectors. Buy 20 foot of quality cable and a sack of ends.

BLUE BEAR- the same reason i love tone is the same reason i love effects, i love how intresting you can make the guitar sound with delays or spiraling chorus' or tremolo and so on,

despit popular belief, i dont have pedals to make up for lack of skill or my dick size.

I AM a stickler for my tone and my pedals and want to have my 10 pedals and do EVERYTHING possible to protect that tone and be able to keep the pedals.

darnit

don't say hosa sucks, i just purchased two xlr's yesterday. man will i ever buy the right gear.

For every hosa cable you buy, you will eventually replace it with a better cable. So you may as well do it right to begin with.;)

yeah, im afraid your prolly right, but as far as I know Hosa is the only brand that make 6 inch cables.

I could make my own but that'd end up costin me big moola.

Look for George L cables. They are a bulk cable and have specialized plugs. These are probably not as cheap as you want, but I have had a mess of these cables for well over 6 years and not one of them has crapped out on me. In my opinion, you will not lose any of your tone with these. I use them exclusively in my guitar rig and have never had a problem. I had used a mess of the small hosa cables when I first set up my rig, and I noticed a big sound improvement when I switched to the George L's.

I'm not sure where you're coming from on this. What price are you looking at for the connectors? The cable cost is de minimis.

Follow the link that Bdgr was good enought to give you a little higher up in this thread. They should be somewhere in the $1.25 range and up.

Yeah, standard switchcraft 1/4 inch, I think their like a buck and half. Canare GTR cable about 50 cents a foot, and it kicks ass.

the sites I seen for buying connectors were about $4.95 a connector,

that's about $8-$10 per every patch cord, that would end up costing me like 80-100 bucks just for the patch cords.

Yup, but I thought you said you were a stickler for tone. Cost shouldn't matter if it gets you the tone....right...right??? :)

That's cheap....
I hardly have any instrument or patch cables that are less than $20-$30 a piece.

yeah i actually made the desicion to make and go with all george Ls for patch cables, I figured it would be $96 for just the connectors (i wanna get some extra incase something comes up) and then I still have to figure out how much cable I need.

Its not to bad of a price I guess really. Actually not at all bad.

Thanks Guys for your help!!!
