I stumbled into an old Leslie 147 for $250. It has the outboard preamp along with it so I can get into it without a Hammond. First of all, does anyone know if $250 sounds like a good price? There's hardly a scratch anywhere on this beast (it looks like a piece of furniture) and it's fully functional. It looks like it's worth more to me but what do I know. I intend on using it with guitars and of course, the occassional keyboard.:D

I did a little more research on prices. Everything I've seen so far has a median price of around $800. This poor bastard just about gave it away. Damn this is cool.:D

Watch yourself Track, those things is heavy!!! You should get a roadie to do that for ya! :p

:D :D

Cool - sounds like a decent enough price to me... enjoy it!!!

Heavy ain't quite the word. Fuckin heavy would just about cover it. This thing is almost 4' tall. There'll probably be some material released by me in very soon in which many of the mix elements will be ran through a Leslie.:D

The folks that frequent the Hammond Technical List (e-mail list) would give ya an 'at-a-boy, for making off with a Leslie 147 at that price. If ya ever need any help with repairs on it, or hooking it up to yer non-Hammond organ keyboard, I can get ya the address ya need, to subscribe to the list...called HamTech, for short.

I appriciate that. I have the preamp thing (the big chrome stomp box) made by Leslie to connect to instrument level sources. Man this beast is a thing of beauty! Hardly a scratch on it anywhere. I also found out that it's a 1971 model.

Hell of a find.

I'd love to score a Leslie. You track anything with it yet?

The recent HRC challenge of no effects except home made ones, I ran some vocals and guitar through it on a Beatles cover. I plan on making better use of it in the near future.
