Maybe it is a bad wire. but I just changed wires and I am troubleshooting.
Avalon is working because I just recorded a Kurzweil.
And I want to record acoustic guitar now..and I have the settings ....
I read the book.
..I put the settings on the Avalon where they told me to. I couldn't get a hot signal at all.
Then I turned on the gain switch.
I am not getting a good level, the sound is really soft.
Help.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong..
I bought the mic new.
Right now, I am changing wires to see if it is a faulty wire.

When you say wires what wires are you talking about? Do you mean the xlr cable or the wires between the preamp and the recorder?
Did you turn the phantom power on?

I am troubleshooting..so I am going to change both

both..I am going to see if it is one of the wires...either xlr or the other wire

the power switch is on

I have to check everything again...I have power supply box with the Rode K2.
That switch is turned on and the mic is plugged into the Avalon which is a fine tube compressor/pre...
It is an excellent piece of equipment.
