Take a high-resultion photograph of the front-panel, and we can tell you which switch goes where.

oooh, okay, good idea. hold on.

From what I've read on the net so far it appears to be a 6 track...weird but neat!

No, it's a Four Track. It just has six mixer channels.

Sansui did a Six Track.

well i can't get my camera to hook up to the computer right but anyway it seems like the pictures wouldn't be close enough.

can't you go by how i described it?

I can only go by the control configuration on Tascam Four Tracks.

What's to the right of the six channel strips?

No, it seems to have submix channels. But describe them too, and maybe we could do something.

Look carefully. Somewhere on there are buttons or switches that arm individual tracks for recording.

It could be something like

1/2
3/4
L/R

or

1
2
3
4
L/R

The Submix buttons are there to Buss channels to tracks, not to put the tracks into Record Ready mode. Hence you can have more than one channel feeding a track.
