Hey guys

I just got my MAudio Audiophile 2496 soundcard and Audiobuddy in the mail. I installed the soundcard no problem....now I'm wondering what I need to complete the set-up with the Audiobuddy. No cables were included, and I can't seem to figure out what I need and how to hook it up. The manuals that come with these things aren't much help....so if someone wants to give me a crash course I would appreciate it.
I'll be using a mic to record my guitar amp, through the Audiobuddy and into the soundcard.

Another thing: I left my Creative SB Live card installed for playback...any problems you guys see in this?

Thanks!

I don't know what kind of outputs the AudioBuddy has but you just need a line level cable to go from there to the Audiophile.

Why in the world would you buy an Audiophile and then use the SoundBlaster for output? The DACs in the Audiophile are superior. The only reasons for leaving a Sound Blaster in are (1) compatability with old games, if you are a gamer; or (2) you want to use the Sound Font synth on board the Live.

I was going to use the SB Live card for output because.....hell I don't know I'm just a guitar player = )
I'm new to this and took a guess at what would be best for output. I noticed the plugs from my speakers won't fit the audio inputs on the Audiophile card, so I'll have to get some adapters as well. I don't game anymore, so I have no problem ditching the SB Live card. Hopefully I can get the right stuff with one trip to the store.....
Thanks!

take out your SB live....your audiophile 2496 does all...(record and playback). your connection from your 2496 to your speaker is right(having an adapter to fit). connect your mic through your buddy's mic in. you need 2 cables with 1/4' mono jack from one end and from the other end will be an RCA each cable connected from the output of the buddy and to your soundcard......scram and get rockin

Thanks for the help guys. SOmetimes it sucks living in rural Alaska. I'll check the music store in Anchorage tomorrow to see if they have the adapters/cables I need. I'll scram now, can't start rocking untill my copy of Sonar 3.0 gets here though.

I have the same two sounds cards in my computer. When I installed the M-Audio Audiophile 2496, I didn't experience any conflicts with the Sound Blaster Live card, so I left them both in. For the time being, I find it useful, because I have two MIDI sound sources, but I only use one at a time (for now). I have one sound source controlled by one card, and the other controlled by the other card. In the sequencer I can easily switch between sound sources with a single action by switching the MIDI output to the other card. When my setup gets a little bit more sophisticated (i.e., when I purchase some sort of MIDI connection box) I probably won't do it this way.

Well, this bit of trivia probably wasn't useful to you at all!

As if it wasn't ALL rural! Wow - rock on dude! And here I am complaining because the store down the road doesn't carry all the digital equipment I would like it to, and I'll have to travel an extra 5 minutes to check something out at Sam Ash. But I'll BUY it on-line, and I guess when it comes to that, you can get whatever you need up there same as here!

Actually I make it sound a little worse than it is. There's a music store about 7 miles away, but they carry mostly lower end gear and close at 5pm. The store in Anchorage is 57 miles away from my house, and they have a pretty good inventory. However, almost every time I go in there they either have no idea what it is I'm asking for, or they want an unreasonable price for it. (ie. $100 for a matched quad of EL34 power tubes)
