Oh bullshit. You fucking rapheads need to get a grip...whatsa matter bunky...ain't the name your mother gave you good enough?
Don't you know these kind of names make you look like a fucking maroon? DA Legend huh?

Hahahahahahaha....DUH LEGEND is more like it! :D

Since that name was given to you, maybe you could take the nickname zacanger gave to you. You know, since you just take whatever nickname is given to you.

I'm not taking sides on this argument, because Rick made a serious grammar error by using the wrong form of "you're," and Legend sounds like not only an asshole but an illiterate asshole. I just want to say that if Accolade would like to run a commercial facility offering more than just a service for hip-hop vocals, he should ignore anything Legend has to say.
Strange. I don't see how anything I have said here would imply that I am illeterate or an asshole. Perhaps you and Rick should leave me alone. I haven't said anything to either of you, but some how I am an asshole. Pot & Kettle perhaps? Maybe just ignorance? But I have not said anything rude or disrespectful.

Do you realise how ignorant this makes you look? You don't know me. For all you know I could have a masters degree in Medical Science from Yale. But again you don't know me to know any better. Your ignorance and lack of an open mind is going to kick you in the ass in life. Futhermore whats wrong with a nickname or a name that you choose to go by? We don't make fun of you for going by Patrick even though every man Ive ever known named Patrick has been gay or had gay tendencies. You need to get over yourself and realise that you don't matter nor does your opinion of me or hip hop as a whole. We don't care about you. We are having a good time. So why are you trying to rain on our parade? We didn't come and shit on your sister's suicide party..

And you are talking because? Didn't your parents teach you not to butt into other peoples business? Or do you just not have any business of your own to get into? Its funny how many people in this thread hate me when I have done nothing but give advise to a person who asked for it. Considering that we both do hiphop I would assume that what I have to say would hold more weight than anything any of you have to say because the rules of Hip Hop are a little bit different. But since I am just an "illeterate asshole" I should just give you your forum back lmao. I don't know whats funnier the fact that none of you know me but swear that I can't read and write or the fact that you don't know me and hate me. Gods love you but I don't nor do I wish any of you well. Good day.

I dont hate you, I just hate the fact that you gave bad advice.

it wasnt bad advise its just the way hip hop is. there was a hit on the radio earlier this year that was recorded on a digi 002 in his untreated living room the song was a big sucess. There are a lot of rap acts that are very successful and still record to adat and 1/4" tape. There are a lot that have converted to Pro Tools but a lot fo people wont. I have heard hit rap songs recorded on a mbox 1 on the back of a tour bus. A buddy of mine had a song on national radio earlier this year. He had a Korg Triton LE 61 key a $100 M Audio soundcard and Fruity Loops and he got placements on this album and the album went platinum. He has also done tracks for midway games again with fruity loops and this $100 m audio soundcard. It works for hip hop. Low budget stuff works for hip hop. Lots of mainstream rappers and producers use the 002 not all of them but enough of them to make it worth while to get and be happy with. A good song is a lot more important than an expensive setup. There are classic songs that in terms of quality are crap by even the cheapest of anything by todays standards and the gear is still acceptable atleast in our world. Nothing I said was incorrect just different than how you would do it. That was still no reason for any of you to attack me.

If you really want to start doing bands, $10k isn't going to get you very far. Just recording a drumset alone will set you back at least that much. You will need a suitable room (that means construction and double walls), at least 10 mic preamps, $1200 worth of cheap, but good, drum mics, $200, worth of cables, etc...

Guitars need a different room (more construction), and different mics and more preamps, etc....

I'm not trying to discourage you. But realistically, $10k just isn't that much when you are trying to do bands. A lot of bands like to play all at once. That means you have to have the rooms to isolate the drums from two guitar rigs and a bass DI and a vocalist all at the same time. Even if you use nothing but SM57s for everything, that's still almost $2000 worth of mics, then you need cables and preamps and converters, etc...

Save some more money or just keep doing what you are doing until you can make enough money doing vocals to justify the jump to the next level.

This is definitely true, but I don't know if I would totally hold off if you're geared up to get going. There are scalable solutions that can get upgraded as you go-- for example, you could buy one of the many drum kits available to start (and maybe get better mics for the snare and kick). Once you get a computer and interface, though, you're not going to have much money left.

If you're going to start a small commercial studio, I would imagine you might want to check out the competition in your area. If there are many other studios in the area, you might want to see what they offer and try to focus your spending on gear that will help you create your niche/market share. For example if there are a lot of studios in your city/town that offer cost-effective band recording, then maybe you want to invest your money into getting a couple of high quality recording chains (preamps, eq, compression and ad/da conversion) and higher quality mics and try to make your mark initially by recording hip-hop artists, singer/songwriters, etc.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to notbradsohner again.

My apologies. I said what I said because you didn't seem to be able to use punctuation, capitalization, spelling, or grammar. But now you at least know how to use a spell check.

I wouldn't call proper spelling and grammar being overly formal. Why give a bad impression of yourself when you don't have to?

Man do I love this section of the forum. Give it up guys, take it up via private messages.

If the original poster is even checking back on this thread, please respond now so we can give some advice and know we are not wasting our time.

In the mean time, play nice. It doesn't really matter that much, does it? Zacanger proved his point, X man made his rebuttal, end of story. Settle your differences and get on with life.
