:D BIG THANKS TO SPINSTERWUN for providing technical assistance to man...(so sneaky...sooooo sneakkkyyy:cool: ) in finding correct monitors!

LIFE IS GOOD! :D :D :D :D :D :D

:D :D :D :D :D :D

What kind did u get? I got 20/20's a few months ago and really diggin them thus far.

As for Xmas i got a triton studio. its alot to deal with Ive spent a lot of money in the last quater of last year. 20/20's, XV5050, Triton and i got my MPC3000 fixed finally. My next venture is the fastest PC i can muster up. where's the dough coming from. Lets just say getting paid by commision was beautiful this year.

ME TOO! Isn't it wonderful (said in Shirley temple voice)

I got 20/20s too!!! YEAHHHHH!!! Life is GOOD. Commissions are nice... i totally understand. Happily waiting for February...(that's when Bonus Checks are cut). Thank goodness for the 9 to 5. Making the 6pm -2am musical madness all possible. HA HA!

Cool!

The 20/20s are good monitors -- you'll do well with them...!

To learn them and learn how to translate mixes with them - I suggest you listen, listen, listen... to as many commercial CDs as you can. This way, you'll get accustomed to their "sound" and you'll get a feel for what they'll sound like when trying to use them for your own material.

What the bear says is correct. Enjoy!

All I got was a singing RAY CHARLES doll that compliments my James Brown singing doll !:(

My peep's NEVER buy me gear!!:(

Good for you MShea!!!;)

cool that you've gpt monitors! I needed monitors soooo badly, but I treatred myself with a Neumann mic this X-mas ;-)

mshea, I also told him to buy you a MANLEY VOX BOX (but he said that it cost too much money). :(

Holy CRAP!!!

I got a thumbs up from BLUE BEAR!!! RIGHT ON! They ARE GOOD!!! HA HA!!!

OOOOOHHHHH!!! VOX BOX? Huh? Whazzz thatttt? Another fun gizmo. My fingers are growing wonderful NEW callous from my Digitech RP200 purchase...EFFECTS...EFFECTS...EFFECTS, the funniest thing though, the BEST feature is the TUNER!!! I CHEAT and have my bass tuned a half step down to make it easier to match up guitar chords...man...i went through and RE-RECORDED every single bass line and guitar line...everything sounds warm and FULL.

The monitors have YET to arrive. EVENT is sitting on their a$$!!! Musicians Friend said they were guaranteed to arrive BEFORE Christmas...then they said, the 31st...now they're saying the 6th!!! UGGGGG!!! I'm so anxious...i visit the web site and droooooll daily!

SPIN! I'm sure if i crank out some crappy lyrics and make 'em sound REAL bad, then COMPLAIN about it EVERY DAY...maybe he'll feel so sorry for me...he'll get the vox box thing too...operation 'pitty pot' in FULL EFFECT!

Speaking of operations! IN DA MOUTH! It's ALMOST that time of YEAR AGAIN! MIIIIAAAMMMMIIII!!! I got a MAN out of the last trip...i know...can y'all believe it...thought i'd be head over heels in music and fell head over heals over a MAN...a keeper too...i mean shoot, he supports my 'ART'. Awwwwwwww...i know....I KNOW!

So...last year...MAN...This year....connections + DEMO = someone noticing me and PAYING ME TO MAKE THIS STUFF!!! YEAH BABY YEAH!!!!

ohhh yeah...

SPIN...wazzzup with your location quote? I know i should be far more intelligent than this, but...

Heh-heh........ :)

But there's always some bad with the good...

They are good monitors, BUT -- like all the Event monitors -- they are bit too forgiving in the mid and upper midrange....

Once you've learned how they sound, you will have to pay extra attention to those areas when you mix! And double-check your mixes on other systems too (which is good practice no matter what monitors you've got!)

It is my dwelve into existential philosophy.

When I created the location quote, I had been doing reading on Friedrich Nietzsche.

;)

Here.... I'll postulate another one, for you, Maya.....

I think Iwill use this one for my location at my new MODERATOR spot, THE WOMB . ;)

LOCATION: The Land of Moderators, because those who wish to be mediators between two resolute thinkers are marked as mediocre: they lack eyes to see the unparalleled; seeing things as similar and making them the same is the mark of weak eyes.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I love you, spin

We are going to rent a crib on the beach this year. :D

I'll have the prices for you by mid-week (I'm trying to get one of our sponsors to cover the cost).

We will also be purchasing the plane tickets within the next two weeks (so start putting some money to the side).

Plus, I've started creating the D.I.W. Season 2 t-shirts.

I'll see you later on Sunday night @ Dvine 1950 W. North Ave.

You better come by after work :( (we'll be there until 2 am).

OK! The Monitors MADE IT! Now what?

Although they aren't the 20/20s....for some strange reason, the man changed mid-swing and hooked me up with the 'Event TR5's'

So my question is...how the HELL do i figure out WHAT to turn the volume to on the back of these bad boys in conjunction with my Aardvark break out box onscreen mixer thingy...you know. HEEEELLLPPPPPP!!!! Aren't they supposed to 'match' or do i just follow my ears and tweak it to my personal preference???

Cool MShea. The 20/20's re cool. I also got monitors for christmas....I got some KRK V88's...Cool right. Were all happy

mshea,
i frequently view but seldom post, since there are so many knowledgeable(sp?) folks here.
i've been ordering and demoing(sp?) monitors from most of the mail order houses for about a year now and have ab'd literally dozens of reference monitors. the tr5's translated better to my home and car systems than any of the others that were available for under $1,000. if you don't need to hear the bass and drums at club levels during playback, i think you will be very happy with your results. there's no indicator for unity gain and the controls are almost too tiny to manipulate but having them at 50% seems to work well with the rest of my system at unity gain and the clip lights don't come on even with thumpin' bass and kick. have fun!and good luck with your career!

Nice score, but aren't they a bit big for your control room? (based on your website pics...)

The V88s are really more midfield than nearfield.....

I got monitors, and can't work them...UGGGG!!!!

Well, i've got those teeny tiny knobs at the back turned to 50%...BUT... i'm hearing really strange things like it's still too high...my Aardvark is pulled down so low, yet everything's lookin 'hot'...like IN THE RED...i'm so confused...i don't know what to turn down, or up and everything that i had done before that i playback sounds good, better, or worse...depending on if i have finished it or not...but the new thing i tried to make...All MIDI, then converted to Audio and am tweaking sounded FINE MIDI, however, when re-recorded Audio...has wierd 'cracks' in it..yet nothing was 'hot' when i put it in??? UUUGGGG!!!
So i decided to do a test run and see what happened recording vocals, tried some bass, then guitar...the only thing that sounded somewhat clean was the guitar and i only thing cuz that's a guitar and i'd have to be a ROCKET scientist or Blue Bear (HA HA)to hear strange noises over my terrible strumming. So, that's my dilemna...

After all that the question is...turn monitors down to 25% and Aardvark up?
