i got a sticky tape =/

i accidentally bought a sticky tape. its a 3m 226 and I'm really bummed about it. It records and works and stuff but my machine fast forwards and rewinds in slow motion. And then a bunch of shit sticks to the metal parts of the machine. Is there ANYTHING i can do to remedy this? I'm very broke and can't afford to buy another and i've already started work on this tape. Any help would be great

Sorry to say this but you need to stop using this tape NOW. If you carry on it will damage your machine.

If you have work on the tape clean the machine and transfer the work in 1 pass. I hope you have something to transfer it to.

Tape sticky restoration is a short term fix for recovering work from a sticky tape, it usually only works for 1 pass.

Bake this tape and transfer your work ASAP. Don't buy used tape anymore. It's a false economy.
