For years I have been wanting a bit better guitar than the $400 student-grade models I have been getting by with for years. My wife recently inherited a sum of money from the estate of a distant cousin and said I should get a good guitar that will last me for the rest of my life.
I got a Breedlove. I hadn't played a guitar that sounded this sweet since a high school acquaintance allowed me the brief (five minutes) pleasure of playing his 1969 Martin D-35.

Excellent choice! Did you drop the big bux & get an American-made one? (I have no idea whether or not they're better than the Korean ones anyway)

It's the AD20/SRPLus. Being one of the Atlas Series, it's one of the Korean-built Breedloves. I don't think I can ever justify to myself, let alone my wife, the cost of one of the American-built Breedloves (or any other comparably-priced guitar, for that matter). This was still more than I'd ever paid for any other guitar I've ever owned over the years.
To back off a little and clarify (lest someone take exception), I'm not saying the Breedlove sounds as good as a 1969 Martin (which was, I understand, the last year they used Brazilian rosewood on back and sides as the standard) D-35. I'm just saying this is the sweetest sounding guitar I've ever played since that time. Of course, 35 years and a lot of mileage since then may be playing a few tricks on my memories. And I'm not going to be so brash and foolish as to say it sounds better than any $2,000+ Taylor, Martin, L'arrivee, Collins, Santa Cruz, or Goodall.
I did think it sounded better than the Taylor, Alvarez, Yamaha, and Seagull models I tried in the same price range.
And, as they say, since this is an entirely subjective evaluation of my guitar, YMMV.

WhiteStrat,
Believe me, I am enjoying it. I've probably been playing more in the past week since I purchased it than I had in the past two months.
What amazes me is the low action without any fret buzz.
I'm even starting to attempt some barre chords--something I've avoided for the past 35 years because I never had a guitar where I felt comfortable attempting barre chords. (I'm lazy and it seemed like too much work.)
It's amazing what finding a dream guitar does for our motivation to learn and play.

wow

i envy you brother your wife is awesome! if my wife inherited some money it would be gone so fast it would make your head spin and i would have nothing to show for it! LoL

great choice of guitar too i want one! they sound sweet! all of my favorite fingerstyle guitarists have at least one.

later,
and enjoy!

Wow! Tasty! Sound clips please!

Bought my first breed-love over summer (atlas 12 string), was amazed at the sound too. They're sweet guitars for the money dude. Congrats!

Very nice mang...:)

and I gotta second the clips. I'd like to hear it as well.

guitar_chris,
Yes, my wife is awesome--a Proverbs 31 woman. What's even more amazing is she's put up with me for the past 30 years.:D

As for those requesting sound clips, I will ask for your patience as I get back into the discipline of practicing. I'm not a technically proficient player--more strumming than anything. My fingerpicking skills are minimal at best, but I can manage to keep time. I'll try to have something posted in a couple of weeks because my brother-in-law wants to hear how it sounds also.

Congrats on the new wood.Glad you are inspired by it,but for fucks sake,30 yrs of hell should at least fetch a one off custom.

No, no, no--she deserves the rewards for putting up with me.
But that's grace and love in action.

As for the one-off custom--if I spent that much on a guitar (like a Zemaitis, Petros, or Olson), I wouldn't be able to afford to insure it. Besides, my tastes and sensibilities run more to burgers and Scions than escargot and Ferraris.:D
