thats a shame,I guess it seems that I just found out about this stuff last week, but i've really been trying to learn about this since about April.oh well,I guess i'll find my way some how.alright thanks.

Say, I didn't mean we weren't going to keep helping you! Just that it's a lot of money you're spending, and you seem ready to go and spend a big chunk of it on one particular magic box that doesn't really seem to do a whole lot.

see,I never had anything against using a computer, its just that the mpc2000 is really popular for hiphop and since I'mm gonna be doing hip hop it seemed like a good choice.and the fact that its a drum machine/sequencer/sampler in one.
I already knew I was gonna get a keyboard,so price was really the only issue here.
And the only thing missing to complete the puzzle would be the 4-track.I was advised to go digital,so I was cool with that.I was already getting mpc2000 and a keyboard, so I saw no reason to get a computer when all I needed to complete my little plan was a digital 4-track.Now if I cant get a good sound quality that is good enough to sell from that, then I would have no problem reconsidering.other than that I dont see any possible problem.but maybe i'm wrong?

Dude...
Get a $800 computer and a $20 per month internet connection. Download N-track and Hammerhead. Go the extra mile and get a $100 set of Boston accoustics speakers for your computer and go from there. Use your friggin computer mic for vocals and get a distorted trippy sound... I think you need to dip a few toes in the water before diving in...
Just a bit of friendly advice from someone who has maxxed out two credit cards and is still a good ways away from studio-quality recording... and believe me, I went the cheap route...

WOA! S8-N! if he wants to do the music he want to do why buy something less than par if he buys what all hip-hop players are useing at an afordable price and get a peice here and there till he gets what he wants he will be doing good because he will have to dump the pc once hes ready to get something better.Jay get what works which seems to be the MPC2000,keyboard,digital four track rout.this stuff can goe anywere and do what you want get some sampling cds and make music that you enjoy and have fun. my opinion go with the sampler/keys/fourtrack stuff.

jay, I do hip hop music as well, although I use a computer. I understand why many say go the computer route. But I agree that you should do what feels comfortable. You will not be satisfied otherwise. I would however, in the long run begin to read up on computer based recording, it will expand your abilities and options. Peace. (looks like you need to get in a real time phone conversation with someone; you kinda rushing and trust me, i know that feeling, so talking to someone not trying to sell u something would answer many of your questions at once) sorry if i have repeated anyone as this thread is very long.
