I do have a vocal coach. Thats the sad thing. She has trained me for about two years.

Try a different coach? :)

Seriously Cyan, you will eventually work out the pitch problems. I'm confident of that. What's really important is that nature has given you a nice vocal tone that you can't get from any amount of learning anywhere.

Be thankful for that and funk on!

hey Cyan, not too bad in a 'Biz Markie' kinda way.. Keep on it.. this tune has potential..

thanks everybody. I had forgotten about this thread.

Eric herny, thanks man. You make me feel happy going back to my vocal coach(starts next week for another 14 weeks)

and mixmaster, you know how to make a person see the bright side of things. I'll blame you when I plunk down all my cash to spend money releasing a CD :D

fed and chessrock, I am going to loosen up. My new attitude is "forget about it" It might help.

Muzeman, thanks man. I totally freeze up standing with headphones on before a mic. Its actually humorous to see me. I did the track with a piano track that I had playing the melody then muted it. I think the 4033 sounds better than the blueberry in some situations. It presents a more realistic picture.

Theron, thanks. I just wired my headphones for mono, so I can turn it up loud and remove one ear. I hope it works.

NOw, Im off to write a wildcard. I want to talk about not wanting to become my father(wish me luck)

Just wanted to add,I tried singing with the monitors on instead of headphones like Chris suggested, much, much better.
I actually managed some harmonies!

Did anyone ever find that thread about putting the monitors out of phase like Crawdad was talking about.
I remember the thread, did a search but couldn't find it.

Hey Cyan,

I was just over at the BLUE site.
Looks like they are offering a free upgrade to the shockmount on the Blueberry.-

Don't know if you heard about it.

CYAN,

LOTS OF GOOD ADVICE HERE !

Don't loose hope, we have all been there. Just keep singing & singing.

Pitch problems happen for many reasons, keep trying to hunt down why you are have one.

Keep re-tracking until a good Vox track is down. I piece mine together.
Many if not all pros do the same.
Remember, if Keith Richards & Rick Okasic(cars) can sound good, you can too.
You are WAY above them in singing talent.

Mic fright is something that I wrestle with all of the time,
I just live with it & have my band work the recording controls.
They keep me informed on the way I sound.

Actually, I trust my band members ears & opinions more then my own when it comes to my vox. More then once I thought I sounded good, & was told I was bad.
I thought I sounded bad & told I sounded good.

Do you have any one you trust to help you track ???

Sean

cyan-

good advice here on the pitch issues.

I really don't know though...i mean, there are definately some here...just keep working at it.

I do like this song though...it's pretty cool.

the "i'm on my way and growin" part I dig.

hey muzeman,
thanks for the heads up. I already have the $199 shockmount, so an upgrade is unnecesary. Thanks for the info though.

Smellyfuzz,
no one who tracks with me. I lock myself up in my room for a day and come up with the music. There's no one around here who knows about that stuff.

Wes480,

thanks for the reply. The only reason I ever recorded this song was for that melody line "Im on my way to knowing... I'm on my way, Im growing" It made the whole song make sense. Thanks for hearing it too.
