...uhhh what is mixing... i know it is after tracking and after you clean up your tracks... but sometimes people say ..."this isn't the fianl mix" ....how many times can you mix... and i dont understand the purpose

people say that after tracking they mix it down to one stereo track and then work with it from there... that doesnt make sense to me though because ...for example what if you wanted to pan the drums differently or something........ i know what i'm asking is confusing :o

bet ya you could google mixing and come up with a definition. or as my mom used to say when i kept asking her questions when i was little. "BOY!?? I bought you a dictionary and a set of encyclopedia brittanica books. It aint cheap, but that dont mean you can pick it up and gain some knowledge! now i want you to read up on the question you asked me and tell me 5 things about it."

and all i wanted to know was how did they get the holes in swiss cheese
good thing i didnt ask where babies came from :D

Thanks.....

FAQs exist for a reason. They provide many answers to common questions in a convenient place to save the trouble of people having to type out the answers every time a common question is asked (and they save bandwidth in the long run). Describing even the basics of mixing would take pages of writing, which most of us don't have time for. We have provided you with several good articles explaining these concepts (Bruce's article is a great starting place).

I was advised once (not related to this board) to avoid asking questions that I could easily look up for myself. If you can use google, the "search" feature at the top of this bbs, or any other similar resource, you could answer the vast majority of questions you have been posting these past few weeks. I am not trying to discourage you from using this board. Just know that, while we are here to help you, you could also do yourself (and us) a favor by learning to help yourself.

Good luck.
