I am having problems

I just don't get this - I am not an idiot but I'm sure stupid...
I just purchased the M-Audio Fast Track Pro Interface - comes with some software namely ableton Lite Live 5 and Dsound's GT Player Express
I installed the interface yet when I open its menu - it says not connected and whemn I try to instal the GT program it says no ASIO please install your interface... so that has me baffled!!!

Then I bought the M-Audio Oxygen 49 USB Midi Keyboard plug that in... installed it.. now what??

How do I get any of these things to even see each other... I plan on buying Tracksion 2 but I can;t even make this work.

yeah - ended up calling m-audio customer service
the instructions that come with are just a quick setup and it seemed to do all that correctly - but tech support walked me through a driver setup I had to re-do on my PC - seems like it didn't grab it correctly the first time and you have to do a manual overide...
So now the m-audio fast track pro is working but of course none of the software that comes with it has any manuals either so the learning curve is a bitch....
2 questions....
I have GT Player Express up - I can hear my naked guitar - but when I change the 'sounds' in the program I don;t hear them when I play... can i?
Also with the midi usb keyboard... should I go usb or through the midi in on the fast track pro?
