Looking for anyone who has any experience with the commercially available hush boxes for noisy equipment in the control room. I understand that both Raxxess and Middle Atlantic are now selling hush boxes (acoustical isolation racks), but I haven't been able to get much info on them. The Raxxess version looks good: the back of the rack is sealed with a couple of quiet cooling fans, and the front side has a glass door on hinges to seal up that leakage path. However, their website inexplicably makes no mention of the product.

I don't have that much noisy equipment, but _any_ noise is annoying. The IDE drive in the Fostex 1624 howls along pretty loudly, and if I end up getting a PC of some description in there for backup/editing, I know that it is going to be *miserably* noisy with eleventy-seven fans humming along. No joy.

I know that I could build a box, and eventually perfect it. I just don't want to take the time to do it: my studio time is limited, and I want to be making sounds, not sawdust. I'd prefer to purchase something that is already ready to go. So: has anybody laid hands (and ears) on this equipment, or anything comparable? I don't want to lay out bucks for something that only gives me a 6dB reduction in the audio spooge...
